13 % is about the usual %. Only because of the extreme cold. an ordinary 'code blue' would only bring in 5%.

In a conversation with the church board I made an acceptable suggestion.
That the Religious exemption should be replaced by a religious category of the educational exemption.
then the organization / church / congregation would need to show 5 days a week of some demonstrable public educational value.
only 4 days ; pay 20% of tax
3 days pay 40% etc. etc
seems fair to me.

As far as salaries are concerned. Employees do pay income tax, but are exempted from Social Security.

The churches probably realise their property would be destroyed before long. Not that that's a good defense. Christianity and property should not be bed-fellows.

Not many churches actually do the work Jesus taught.

That megachurch pastor, Joel Osteen, who also likes to teach the prosperity gospel, was late in taking in/helping the Houston people when that hurricane did its work in that area.
