I encourage quite a lot of wildflowers in the garden. This is a favourite, even though some people think of it as a weed. Orange Hawk Weed, or Fox And Cubs, Hieracium brunneocroceum. It gives me no trouble and looks great at about a foot high. The other Hawkweed is the Yellow Hawkweed H.maculatum with spotted leaves, bit more of a pest but not out of the way.

The Orange Hawk Weed grew in my grandfather's lawn in Ohio. I had never thought to try to cultivate it.

I grow Texas bluebonnets in my flower garden every year and they are beautiful until they die in early June. The only pesky part is you have to let them dry on the Bush in order to get them to come up next year. The dead Bush is really ugly.

Most so called weeds are flowers that have naturalized. Queen Annes lace is a perfect example in ky. It grows everywhere.

The foliage has got some nice variegation too and flower is pretty darned fancy for a native. I do appreciate plants that come back reliably, though all the ones I have were originally planted by me. I've got a couple of stipa grasses that want more ground than I'll give them and some nice annuals too, including our native poppy - though I probably planted the first of them. When I have time it might be interesting to see if I can find photos of some of my generous regulars.

What is that in the last pic? Edible greens?

No its the foliage of the second flower, it has a motled staining on the leaves.
