It happens, around Spring 1994 I made the mistake of planting Watermelons and Rockmelons (Cantelopes) in the same bed.
The first harvest was good, I saved the seeds from both fruits (melons) and re-planted the seeds the following year.
To my surprise I got a mix on both vines of watermelons/rockmelons and a cross-breed watermelon-rockmelon, the flesh of each was very nice, firm and tasty, so I guess the Bees around this area decided to do a bit 'Frankenstein gardening' for themselves.
Just wish I could remember where I stored the seeds saved from the second crop, I'd grow them again.
Very interesting
It reminds me of some of the Inca strain potatoes we used to get in Ecuador, either that or mild potato blight.
Well, this would be the year for that - love it!
Interesting. There are blue/purple potatoes [gardeningknowhow.com] and I have grown them. It has been said it is difficult to stop them growing as even a tiny potato can later sprout and grow. But the skin does look like a combination of red and Yukon.
Ah potato love!
I am reminded of the sixties hippy song lyric to "...love the one you're with."
Yes, but how do they taste?
They taste like white potatoes

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
