So:
Question for the gardners/naturalists here:
Is this typical sparrow behavior? After one hatch.... clear out the house? Redecorate??
They're still sparrows acting as a nest building couple occupying that birdhouse.....

European house sparrows will use the same nest repeatedly. Before the blue birds even arrive the sparrows have fledged 5. They can have 4 clutches annually & will murder other birds to take over the house. I have not seen then remove & rebuild a house. House wrens will do that. This looks like a wren house.

What I've learned is that they might have detected infestation; ants, spiders, molds, etc. So they cleared out the contents and went with fresh.

Good homes for sparrows are in short supply, sometimes they will steal the nests of swallows by forcing them out after they have built them.

they will raise several clutches through the spring into early summer. They are food for everyone so they need to stock up for the migration.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
