Lavender hates our humid heat ....very hard to keep alive. Nasturtiums and marigolds both struggle some with high summer heat, but with careful mulching and a bit of shade in the afternoon, they are doable. Sometimes this climate is a struggle. Nice chart, though. Basil, in particular, is quite happy here.
Everyone needs basil for their tomatoes anyway.
And Mozzarella.
@MsKathleen how does one grow that?
@MikeInBatonRouge You don’t grow it, but you need it with the tomatoes and basil…Caprese salad!
I used to plant the basil near the tomatoes, but the damn bunnies ate the basil to the ground.. So the tomatoes are unprotected, and the basil is in pots on the deck where the bunnies don't visit.
Nastursiams are a spicy addition to any salad & the flowers make for an edible feast for the eyes. The seed pods are similar to capers in their tangy zip on the tongue.
I have to tell my mother about the borage to repel hornworms.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
