That is an impressive clump, it grows here, too, but I have never found any.

I had no idea you could eat them. I need to learn more about wild mushrooms

I'm on the other side of the continent, but we're just going into mushroom season. I'll post all the edibles I find.

I know you found it in the woods but was it attached to a tree root or stump? I don't do mushrooms but I've seen a lot of those in the woods when I was getting good soil for compost.

On a log at the ocean actually

@nastynifty , I've seen something very much like it growing on stumps of old oak trees.

@freeofgod Highly likely. They are found world wide and there aren't really any lookalikes. It is considered a beginners mushroom. I recommend just checking online next time you think you see one.

@nastynifty , I don't like mushrooms but I like to find them. There are all kinds. Usually growing from some kind of wood leftover. Last year I found some that were bright orange. They looked like upside down carrots.

Funny thing is I'm from a huge religious family that claims God always provides for them when they pray, but I am very serendipitous and get whatever I want just by thinking about that particular thing. It is my dads 70th birthday and they have all heard my side.. That I get whatever I want without God, they aren't special because they believe in him. Like really, how can you believe God provides just to you when there are children starving all over the world. I'm a papered Chef and Horticulturist, I'll probably smoke it slowly at the beach. Lots of salt and garlic.

@nastynifty I keep a picture of starving children in my phone, in fact this one. When my ex blathers on about god providing I pull it up and make him look at it. It usually shuts him up.

Your plan for the mushroom sounds delish! Makes me wanna go back to Vancouver. I lived in the greater Seattle area from 93 to 99. Loved it there.
