Yes, it's a beautiful plant!
@AstralSmoke
It looks great all year round even in the winter when it loses its leaves.
You've beautiful gardens.
@bigpawbullets
The gardens have been fined tuned for years and continue to change depending on the life cycle of certain plants.
This rock garden has taken several directions with specimen plants. The Daphne requires a neutral to alkaline ph and we add a bit of lime around its base each year. The rock garden is very acid with most plants in it loving acid soil.
The Briggs Moonlight Daphne is rare and the leaves are reverse of the popular Carol Mackie Daphne. Everyone who has visited our gardens has commented about the Briggs Moonlight.
The specialty garden shop we bought it from had one twice the size that ours is now. We wanted to buy one and had to wait a year until it was mature enough to plant. I'm not supposed to take cuttings from it because it has some kind of patent or registered trademark and I'd be breaking the law I think.
I had a friend visit early in the year and they loved the Daphne. They ordered one and will be able to pick it up next year for their garden.
@flower_nut The plant can be reproduced, you just can't sell them. My grandmother sold the rights to one of her hollies that she propagated. We cannot legally sell the holly, but the license doesn't cover any more than that. So, I am constantly taking cuttings and trying to get them to root.
@AstralSmoke
I can propagate as many as I want I just can't profit from it? I wanted to take cuttings this year but that didn't happen. We'll see next year how many I can get for other rare and unusual plants as a gift exchange
@flower_nut I don't know how difficult a Daphne 'Briggs Moonlight' is to root. Good luck!
@AstralSmoke
Thank you! It's worth a try.
