I have a large lilac and yes they are nice and fragrant. But right now what I see is another (of many) future pruning job.

You are being too negative towards your garden. We need to change your mind set somehow

@Zoohome My negative feelings have come from having 3 gardens and an orchard which was a joint effort (mostly hers, though). I want to keep them going and looking nice but it is impossible especially if I want a life. Every year I have to let some part of it go (maybe not so much negative as sad). I didn't mention this giant Chestnut and it's baby that takes a great deal of work. Now I am focused on the front and parts of the side gardens. Maybe that's why I prefer indoor plants, No weeds and little pruning.
