Really impressive. They look similar to Amaryllis. Are they related?
I'm not that well versed to be able to say - Amaryllis bulbs are, typically, not planted completely underground - all the Asiatic/Oriental lilies are - the Stargazer bulbs are planted about 6" deep. I think they are all "related"...
@Lavergne Yes, now I remember the bulbs are buried only half-way in the soil.
This reminds me of a discussion I once had with a landscape friend. Things were once listed according to the Linnaean system. Now with DNA testing plants that were thought to be in a different category are found to be similar. DNA could upset the whole taxonomic system.
