I noticed a stone wall behind the plants. This will help add heat to the tomatoes.
@CrazyQuilter Yes, it depends on the direction the wall is facing. When I lived in Seattle I had a 15' cinderblock wall next to the property. I thought this was a problem but found out the wall faced south and it turned out to be a great thing. I was even able to grow Bay laurel in the winter.
@CrazyQuilter Would painting it white help?
@CrazyQuilter I have a S facing sunroom with lots of glass. One thing I do is to hang some cheap bamboo shades in front of the windows. It keeps the sun from hitting the windows and lowers the heat. Could you do this in front of the wall? It is only temporary and can be raised and lowered.
Notice all the fruit in the lower half of the "cage".
Remember; tomatoes like to vine and spread...the one way to "push" larger fruit is to prune....a cage lets them keep growing...so the upper half is all vines...
@CrazyQuilter Good news! Keep it bushy....you'll get fewer fruit...but larger ones!

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
