Need a little help. I think it is a weed, if it isn't I did not plant it & have no idea what it is. Any clues? It just shot up the flower shoot. I didn't cut it down all summer because I liked the leaves.

Giant Silver Mullein. You can buy seeds, but this plant would grow wild in Ohio when I was a kid.

Verbascum AKA Mullin and also known as Arons Rod, for the religious, nice plant but usually dies after flowering.

Mullen. There is a lot of it here in Colo. Also called Indian toilet paper or Indian tobacco. The leaves can be smoked. It has some good medicinal uses for respiratory congestion and others. It comes back every year and is very easy to start. Just put the flower tops wherever you want it to come back next year. I have some around my yard that are 6-7 feet tall. I have always wondered about crossing it with Marijuana plants but haven't tried that yet.🙂-~...

Neat! Thanks everyone! I am so glad I didn't cut it down when it was just a giant bunch of leaves.

Looks like goldenrod to me but I double checked and it is probably ragweed. Google ragweed.

will have to check that.

The leaves look different than ragweed
