My goodness, how can it be so cold again? It is 43 degrees here near Lake Ontario. I will have to check on my tomato plants. Leeks and onion sets are not indanger, and the herbs are all very tough, but the tomatoes!

I remember being in Vermont in August many years ago and seeing my uncles whole garden wiped out by a frost .

I save bubble wrap sheets to protect the plants during these cold spells.

The low for today here in central Florida is 63 and the high is 86. I wouldn’t mine some cooler weather although my fruit trees wouldn’t like it.

At 43 degrees your tomatoes should be okay. The cold might slow their growth a little, but they should be okay.

For once England is basking in 28C - definitely shorts weather in the garden. Pity it never lasts. Good luck with the toms !

Can you tent them with plastic? Or maybe an old blanket during the night?

They will be planted in straw bales and then tented, if this keeps up.
