I cleared out this fence line of brush, honeysuckle, and dead ash trees last year. Planted cuttings from our mature hostas, some volunteer cedars, a few bags of shade tolerant bulbs, and of course, strawberries. One year's growth and I'm thinking I may have to thin this out in the fall.

go to that effort. Let nature take its course ... the weeds will not have room.
Now all that ghastly grass ... What beautiful horticultural beds that will turn into?

WQW ! That's lovely ! Some kind of bug , keeps eating the few hostas I planted .

Bummer.
Here, they're like weeds!

Slugs There are methods of capture in beer & then drown 'em, or copper layed on the ground. I have salveged copper gutter pieces. The copper produces a minor electrical charge that they avoid. Go online & search. You'll find lots of advice.

How do you keep the rabbits out? ☺

Donna_I Level 8 June 2, 2018

Well, we dont. But we don't have lots of rabbits. We do have lots of cooper's hawks, and a coyote pack in the neighborhood.

@bigpawbullets can i send you some rabbits??

@Donna_I
Oh, and a German Shepherd that considers everything in the fenced back yard to be his.

@bigpawbullets that will do it! ?

What ever you're feeding that bed, the plants really like it.

Nothing. That's what I find interesting. The ground was basically scrub brush and dead hardwood trees. Planting after clearing it out was an "adventure". Lots of roots.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
