This reminds me of a customer I had at work one time. She asked where the appliances were. I pointed down the aisle and said “just walk down this way and you’ll see them on the right.” She said “but what is the aisle number? I don’t want to walk past them.” I wanted to be like, “lady if you can walk by a showroom of 50 appliances and not see them then how did you get here?”

Except that we call them "thongs".
@FrayedBear Thongs here are a completely different article of clothing, but the result would be the same.
@KKGator the skinny undergarment is also called "thong" here.
I notice that it's use for footwear is now becoming known in the USA.
@FrayedBear Flip-flops were also called "thongs", but not as much. It's definitely not "new".
