I was a volunteer docent at the Railroad and Mining Museum in Helper Utah. The young boy was about ten. The photo was taken at a mine near Price Utah It was common for boys this age to work twelve hour shifts sorting rocks from coal. The round container on his side was his lunch box and he is wearing a carbide lamp. These kids grew up early. They got paid by the ton and their fathers kept the money. So much for child labor.
Oh, I don't know.
I think some time in the mines would be really "good" for some of the entitled
brats that are running around out there.
I get your sentiment, but being killed in a cave in, or dying from silicosis at 17 doesn’t sound too fun.
