Do any of you find yourselves constantly changing? I was married for more than four decades and I keep going through these periods where I’m like “okay, this is what I need in my life.” After a period of time, I realize that’s not the case but then I zero in on something else that I think I need until I realize that’s not the case. It’s almost like I’m continually giving birth to a new me.
I don't think we change who we are. We may attempt new things but it is very difficult to not to approach the new activity / person / thing being a "new" you. We adjust our routines. We may reach out to find new activities and with enough support make them a part of our routine. But we bring us all of what brought us to where we are. Finding that activity / person / thing that brings the comfort of the past we lived is hard and maybe impossible. But if we have the feeling of need within us to connect to something and/or someone we have to keep trying. So don't despair just know that you are not alone.
I have dreams often of breastfeeding my infant and feeling his heartbeat on my fingertip in my belly button PREGNANT but never penetrated by any boy.....I envy life giving women and the way they make heaven on earth happen when a woman chooses a man for marriage my whole body vibrates content and strong ready to paint the house shovel the snow till the garden scrub the toilet and wash all the diapers and dishes
I'm just stuck. So far every move I've made has been wrong. Meeting someone is a non issue in this place. Unless you go to church. And I don't know that I want to meet anyone. I simply don't know how to be single at this age after all the years of being a couple.
change is being alive. there'll come a day when you stop changing
@ProudMerrie yeah. me too
i think we all change -- some faster, some slower.
I find that I am a different person each day. I rather like that
I feel like I've been forced to completely reinvent myself several times and it's getting old.
There was this kid once that believed in romantic love and that god had him in his back pocket. That was the first "me". The second one knew on some level by his mid-twenties that he was doomed not to be "the husband of one wife" and had his first niggling doubts about the whole god thing. The third one reinvented himself as a divorced Christian with serious doubts about the Christian part. The fourth one reinvented himself as a widowed atheist. The fifth one is in process, still fiddling with the configuration file and compiler settings ...
Change is the only constant in the Universe.
@ProudMerrie When my wife passed 3 years go I came to the realization that nothing stays the same. So, my motto now is "I'm up for almost anything during the rest of my life." Almost, not too sure about bungee jumping but...
@ProudMerrie Do enjoy your journey Merrie
