Today we’re in the Faroe Islands…with Eivor Palsdottir performing her own song Trodllabundin at an open air concert in 2013. The location is at Stigen Farm in Aurlandfjord which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005.

I think it’s Faroese…which is one of the languages which has developed from Old West Norse…along with Icelandic, Norwegian, and Greenlandic Norse. Icelandic is the closest to Faroese and people who speak either can understand both. The Faroe Islands, like Greenland belong to Denmark …just to confuse the issue a bit, but Danish is also a closely related language.
