Yep, the sugar comes all the way from Queensland.
@Zealandia The export variety must be different to what we buy here.
Ah, the light dawns NZ real sugar is made from that cattle fodder - sugar beet!

In the UK, sugar is also made from the beet plant. Only viable due to subsidies. Any move to take the subsidy away and the industry plays the reducing food security by closing down a local industry card. Works every time.
