{Large-scale manipulation of entire populations works more or less the same way small-scale manipulation of individuals does, and unlike abusive partners who have to more or less figure out their infernal art on their own, there’s been a concerted collaborative effort to refine the science of propaganda for well over a century.}

@ "well over a century" you find a link to another good article by Jordan Hall, The War on Sensemaking. He brings up Edward Bernays, the propagandist builder Abby Martin refers to as the father of modern propaganda in her interview with Mark Crispin Miller. That interview can be found on the Welcoming post pinned at the top of the group here towards the bottom. While Hall goes back in time further than Miller, the correlating narrative to this propaganda being used against us has been the use of "industrializing technology to deliver escalating levels of destructive energy" as he puts it. Martin and Miller essentially deliver the same narrative as Woodrow Wilson used Bernays to sell WWI to the public.

Hall goes back to 1740 though {In 1740, Jacob Dickert began experimenting with a long barreled musket with a groove in the barrel. They called this new innovation a “rifle”. Thus began the last war.} Will we ever reach the end of the last war? Our rulers are hell bent on the next power level for the destruction of us, while they capture it all for themselves. {Guns, germs and steel began to give way to spies, lies, distraction and seduction.}
