@TheAstroChuck I totally disagree with that. The truth is the exact opposite. The Israelis, more accurately, realize the Islamicists are bargaining in bad faith, never make even the slightest of concessions (name one), and nitpick the details until the Israelis and Americans throw up their hands in disgust. What baffles me is why you are so adamantly pro-Islam! Stop calling them Palestinians! We're talking Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, etc. Terrorists who've only stopped bombing Tel Aviv discoteques and downtown markets and temples because Israeli security forces made it impossible. What REALLY mystifies me is the people you're defending are, as noted before, YOUR enemies as well. They consider agnostics, atheists, homosexuals, etc. the lowest of the low. You wouldn't last two minutes on a street in Gaza. Are you KIDDING me? They are anti-democratic, anti-pluralism, anti-diversity, anti-women's rights, anti-free speech, anti-equality, in fact, they are 100% against everything we value in a free society. Most especially, if you are even agnostic or, Allah forbid!, an atheist, they consider you an abomination, the worst kind of Infidel. They would torture to within an inch of your life, and that's just for starters. The Israelis know this far better than you ever will. Don't you realize these "Palestinians" CHOSE Hamas as their representatives? Don't you know Hamas, and the PLO before them, have NO interest in concluding a "peace" agreement with the Jews? None. When are going to wake up and realize, once and for all, your tolerance and compassion and "enlightened reasonableness" falls on deaf ears, runs into a brick wall, when dealing with them. You may feel sorry for them, they want to slit your throat. WAKE UP! Why on earth are you defending them?

@TheAstroChuck Yeah I think it WAS the right of return, but East Jerusalem wasn't NOTHING...the point is, Arafat wasn't really interested, and neither is Hamas and whoever runs the PLO today. And, yes of COURSE Arafat instigated the Intifada? Who else? The Palestinian leadership is NOT INTERESTED in peace, don't you get it? They never will be. Wake up. They're in a perpetual war.

@TheAstroChuck I couldn't agree with you more about the Blood-for-Oil Cheneyfest. Who doesn't? BUT I thought Arafat (remember him?) killed the best chance at a two-state solution, because he insisted on the "Right to Return," which was impossible, and Barak the Israeli prime minister at the time had a cow, and Clinton almost had an stroke. Then Arafat started the first Intifada. Anyway, I thought the Israelis were willing to dismantle the settlements. In fact, isn't that how Bebe got in there in the first place? (By the way, taking down Quaddafi in Libya--Obama/Hillary--was another BAD idea.) I'm against the Democrat's Muslim immigration policy. And I'm a COMMUNIST! I don't care how vetted they are. Why? Because they think the Koran is the word of god. I'll leave it to someone else to do the details. I don't HAVE a rational argument. I hate Muslims, okay? Does that make you happy? Take the moral high ground, I don't care. I'm for keeping them O-U-T!

@TheAstroChuck I mentioned the Islamic man (in the 1500s?) who led the charge against modernism and brought a screeching halt to the Golden Age--talk about a crime against humanity! I also mentioned the ignorance if the English, French, et al., following WW II. An excellent argument can be made (and often is) Israel should never have been arbitrarily brought into existence. I might agree. But it was. They're not going anywhere. Or do you propose we dismantle the Jewish state and walk away...seriously, is that what you want? I mean, realistically, given the real politick of the situation. Like I said, I personally DON'T CARE what these religious fanatics do to one another. Maybe if they kill each other off an Agnostic Majority will take their place! Yay! C'mon. Get serious. All I DO care about is keeping them off American soil. I can safely say this is the ONLY thing I agree with Trump about. It's probably what got him elected in the first place. I've got to go take care of some business. It's been fun.

@TheAstroChuck hahaha. I thought exactly the same thing as I was writing it, but I wanted to focus on my point, and thought that may cause me to go off on a tangent. But yes, of course, there are MANY similarities between the Muslim "clerics" and the Christian evangelical "preachers." Maybe some differences are the societies, cultural milieus, and types of educations. But it's only a difference of degree. Many Christians filter out discordant voices, opposing points of view, in much the same way as Muslim societies filter them out, but not to the same degree. Christians have less excuse for their myopia. They should know better. But just imagine by comparison the environment in which poverty-stricken Muslims grow up! They stand NO chance to escape their conditioning. They are constantly bombarded with an unchallenged message of bitterness and hate from the moment they are born! Examine the contrast with you and I. We were conditioned with certain beliefs. But in a relatively free society, with access to any extant point of view, especially with access to the internet, we were free to shape for ourselves a divergent " belief system" contrary to the one our parents, etc., wished for us. These poor Muslims have no such luxury. I read yesterday agnosticism/atheism has become the dominant "religion" (author's word) in American society, about 23%, outnumbering for the first time Catholics! The author was an evangelical who predicted doom and gloom as a result, of course, but in any case such a development would be unthinkable in a Muslim society. So while there ARE similarities, there are also stark contrasts!

@ArtemisDivine one of Marx's big mistakes was valling for a "dictatorship of the Prolerariat" which Stalin siezed upon. He may have, in the early days, genuinely believed he'd give up power one day when true socialism took root abd blossomed. Maybe not. But it certainly wasn't sicialism that happened. It was fascism. Same in Cuba and North Korea. And what may be happening in the U.S. is creeping fascism as the oligarchs sieze control of the government, perhaps eventually silence dissent, and BECOME the government, uniting it with the corporations.

@ArtemisDivine Yeah, okay, I read your links. So? The author of the second article seems to be confusing fascisn, in which the state "owns the means of production," with socialism, which does not. Soviet Russia was a fascist, authoritarian distatorship, not socialist or communist. SWEDEN is a mix of socialust and free-market capitalism. Swedes are PRAGMATIST, more than anything else. Most of Western Europe is the same. The United States is stubbornly anti-socialist because the oligarchs have succeeded in highjacking the government and only allow oligarch-friendly politicians to gain power.

And they were no different than the few other women I had relationships with, excepting attitudes, behavior, in some cases more intellectual and LIBERAL, but essentially the same. YOU sound like you think I'm naive. Maybe. One definition of the word is, 'unaffected innocence,' in other words, deliberately not letting the unpleasant realities of life jade you and make you cynical. While I don't think Ethical Sluts are magical, mystical creatures (!), I DO think they are different from both common sluts, AND women who accept the patriarchal system as the natural, god-given way-of-the-world. I'm defining the term as a revolutionary feminism. Too much? Well, unless I'm getting it wrong, that's how many in this group define it, as an extension of an agnostic/atheistic worldview, not just a behavior.

I was making up a hypothetical scenario, hoping to both correct the botched question of yesterday, and secondly get the desired insights about the essence of what IS an Ethical Slut. I thought by and large it went well enough. A few thought a different approach is necessary than the one made to an "average" woman because a liberated, emancipated, promiscuous woman is more worldly, sophisticated, less naive, more (counterintuitive as this may seem) discriminating. That is, she knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. Then the question is, are you that person? Games which might work on other fall flat with her. She can spot artifice a mile away. But can't you be an Ethical Slut AND 'play coy' about it? After all, by the operative definition, at least as I understand it, she is an educated, sophisticated woman. Awareness of herself and her surroundings would seem to be essential, and go with the territory, so to speak. She would necessarily be discrminating about whom she associates in general, and certainly about her choice in amours.

Yes, Ms Llama, I KNOW what an ethical slut is, and that she is not "easier to get into bed." She is a La Femme Boheme, a very cultured, educated, sophisticated, emancipated woman who has taken control of her own body and her own life and sleeps with as many, or as few, partners as she deems fit, without asking the permission of you, me, the patriarchy, or anybody else. She is free in ALL aspects of her life, and is to be treasured as a prized friend, lover, business associate, or in any other way you may be lucky enough to know her. @Touched Thank you. You can SAY that, but you're speaking as would a believer who says he KNOWS there IS a god, with absolutely no evidence to support your contention. Many atheists try to have it both ways, with no credibility. If they ssy they're NOT sure, then they're not an atheist, they're agnostic. If they ARE sure, they're no different than the people they mock. I KNOW there's no way fir you to logically claim certainty, therefore you are illogical. Hence, atheism if defined as a certainty is as much of a fraud as any belief system, and I appreciate you being honest about it. Thus, despite people's attempts to blur the distinctions and say the terms are synonymous there are sharp differences. From my point of view, agnosticism is the only supportable position.

Storm1752 replies on Apr 3, 2019:
@Deiter I know. Better to throw out the entire nonsensical myth to begin with, is my contention. It's self-evidently false, and "Jesus" and the "afterlife" have nothing to do with each other; refuting the one does not refute the other. "Jesus" didn't "save" anyone, "he" didn't confer everlasting life. But that doesn't MEAN anything, except whoever made up the gospels" were full of sh*t. Plus, you say just because the water walker cheats death doesn't mean WE get to, but that's weak. If he HAD, then him promising it to others holds a certain amount of weight, you must admit; that's why they claimed it to begin with. BUT it's a stupid claim, as we know, and giving us an afterlife is no more or less absurd than the rest of it. For instance, WHY is the way narrow that leads to this afterlife? Because the author says so, no other reason. The author ALSO says he dies for our "sins." Really? So if he died for our sins (another absurdity) why is the way to "salvation" narrow? Only died for some sins and not others? Please. The whole thing is retarded.

@Doraz In other words, there is no evidence for a "god" and if one insists god is "good," hell or no hell, the evidence is convincing there isn't. So if one insists there IS a "god," that "god" must be "evil." Put another way, god must be a complete asshole. OR, as an alternative, "god" must be something else entirely different than which is commonly thought. No clue what that might be, which is precisely the agnostic point of view.

@Deiter Maybe nitpicking the way you expressed your point. There was no Jesus. STRONG evidence for that. Start there. On the other hand, NO strong evidence PROVES there is an afterlife.
