So my 16 year old, (who knows how to do everything,) used my iron to put a transfer on a hoodie. And now my iron is ruined :/ I bought this iron because I "lost" my last iron. A month after I bought the new iron I found the old iron. So now, I can't find the old iron again and am forcing myself to NOT buy another new iron but I can't find the old one again! Anyone want to place bets now? How long before i cave in and buy a new iron and how long after that til I find the old iron again. Grrrrr... (Also, I believe I broke a record for the use of the word "iron" in one post. )

Edit* thanks everyone but I'm not looking for cleaning advice or parenting advice here... this is the "silly, random & fun" section afterall. I'm not upset with my child, I'm not interested in ways I haven't thought of to clean something.

sounds like the beginnings of a Dungeons and Dragons quest to me:

"Deep in the long forgotten halls of Black Pit Mountain lies a treasure from the times of the elder gods. Metallic in nature, wielded only by the most skilled of the tribes of the seven guilds, the 'Iron of De-Wrinkling' has long sat unclaimed. Now, it is your task, young adventurer, to brave the crinkled halls of Madness, overcome the traps of transferred ruin, and best the Champions of Woe, in order to reclaim your birthright, and bring the 'Iron of De-Wrinkling' back under the control of mankind."

You might try cleaning it with denatured alcohol. Keep away form fire and flame, and with the iron unplugged gently clean it's surface with denatured alcohol.

IF that doesn't work look for resale shops in your area and go to all that you can find. You exact iron might be there for only a buck. I've shopped like this for as long as I can remember.

It would be ironic if the transfer that ruined the iron was an iron maiden decal.

I believe you did lol. I buy clothes that don't need or get ironed. I'm just careful how I fold the clothes when they're dry. makes life so much easier wearing t-shirts and jeans and that won't ever happen to you again.
