As an opinionated person I find it great that I can get my ideas out here and have an interesting cross section of people as a sounding board. I think it's actually helping me be present more in my, 'real life' conversations. Are you having a similar experience?

YES!!! So Much Yes!

I haven't really thought about it, but I can certainly see what you are on about.

Yes, the conversations here are a bit more interesting though. I've only met a few people who enjoy a deeper discussion about a variety of topics.

No, but I am honing my presentation skills. Must be honing them the wrong way though.

No. But only because I use the site differently for you. I have less need to "get my ideas out there" or use the community as a "sounding board". I have done both, but they are not my primary reasons for being a part of this community.
But that's just me.

Note that this site is a very skewed section of society so the results of any poll wouldn't be a useful cross-section of society, but it is fun to ask & answer questions

For the large majority of the folks on this site yes. smile001.gif

I mostly just use the site for political talks so that i can keep it out of my real life. get to talk about politics and religion right here and avoid it in my real life.

Yes, the folks here seem to be open minded, sympathetic and encouraging. Any criticism is usually well thought out and offered in a positive manner, so we can hone our opinions for sharing outside the site, if any of these subjects come up. This site causes pauses for thought, for sure!

You mean this isn't real life! I'm going to have to think about this.

Can't say I have, quite a few folks on here who are intolerant to differing point of views. I still enjoy using this site though despite some of the trolling on here.

Not in my case. Having already made a name for myself as a die-hard anti-theist on Twitter, the move to here was pretty seamless for me. On both cases, my face-to-face interactions with other people has not changed: my views on religion would shock many of them.

I did find the same...when I put ‘stuff,’ out there...I work harder at what I mean and want to say! And, I have noticed that when confronted, I mostly do not take it as a personal assault! All of my opinions need not be validated and I am still entitled to them...that is a step-up for me!

Not me but I still like this site.

Regardless of what experience one has here, it is always interesting and enjoyable.
