Miluji studente pivo!

Horn rolls, hoska, collichies, sour kraut and potato dumplings, ethernitzie. Not sure how to spell most of that. Lots of people around here still speak Czech, so I know the names, but not the spelling. Horn rolls are just a dinner roll shaped in a horn. Hoska is kind of like a pie you would have after dinner. Mostly made of bread. Collichies are kind of like a breakfast dough nut. It's made mostly of bread, but has an open filling in the center. The filling can be cherry, apple, and poppy seed. Kraut and dumplings speaks for itself. There is also kraut soup. The way my grand made it was with eggs. Lots of Czech food has kraut in it. Ethernetzie is a of sausage made from head meat from a cow. I know it sounds cheap and discusting. Because most of it is. Keep in mind most of us that came here were dirt poor. Probably 99% of us here are of Czech decent. We still keep our heritage, and eat this stuff.

@TheGreatShadow my grandparents were from what I call a Germanic tribe that resided in what was Yugoslavia. Some food similarities there.They were dirt poor too. Nothing wrong with that

@btroje Big 10-4! Yeah, although I've never eaten German food, it sounds similar. As well as other European food. We have been in this country for 150+ years. The farthest I can track back was my great grandfather was born in a village 6 miles from here in 1881. We've had the family farms for well over 100 years. We were just raised to be frugal. There are several people around here that are multi-millionares. But they walk around with tattered t-shirts, and old jeans that have been repaired numerous times. I guess that still in imbeded in our heads. You'd never guess these people have money if you just saw them walking down the street. I am fairly cheep myself. I still wear clothes that I had in High School! The traditional way to make money is to save it. I guess we want to never go back to what our ancestors did.
