With a properly functioning brain that tell good from bad, right from wrong. I mean not being an asshole is not rocket science. Pardon my French.

Because you don't need a god to be moral. A lot of immoral things have been done in the name of religion.

1

Because morality comes from within.

Following morality because you've been told to by others, is imposed morality. It's insincere.

Are you a theist in disguise, attempting to proselytize?

No, I'm just curious about knowing what other people think about this topic, as I said before sorry if I made this irrelevant question.

One does not need religion to have a conscience.

God doesn't support morality, so the question is pointless.

You're right, I just want to know opinions but not my intention to make dumb questions. Sorry

@maxterblack97 I forgive you. X

I always hear Christians speak about morality and hold the Bible up as the standard for morality. But is the Bible the standard of morality in our modern culture here in the USA? I say NO...the Bible is not our standard of morality.
The God of the Bible endorsed slavery....we do not practice slavery.
The God of the Bible endorsed genocide...we do not.
The God of the Bible treats women as second class citizens....we do not.
The God of the Bible endorses a Monarchy....we are a Democracy.
The God of the Bible endorses death for Homosexuals and Heretics....we do not.
The God of the Bible is prejudiced against the handicapped....we make every effort to accommodate the needs of the handicapped.
I suppose if I thought a little more I would think of more immoral practices of the God of the Bible

Stoning your daughter to death if she's not a virgin on her wedding day is one of my favourites.

Yes indeed....in the modern age is we followed that rule we would soon have very few young brides. @GoldenDoll

I almost always get this question when I'm asked about my lack of religion. Most of the time I say it's pretty easy to have morals I just treat people nice and try not to be a dick. Other times I just play along with their scared preconceptions and tell them I steal children from their cribs at night and sacrifice them to the dark Lord lol.

If your morality is because a god is watching you, then maybe you're the one with the problem.

Let me explain this : I made the question because there are some people who tells that if you don't believe in God all is allowed, but this is senseless.

What would god have to do with morality anyway? Morals are social behaviors we need neither god or religion to have morals.

Man only becomes man in relationship to others, man without others is impossible. If so then how man relates to others is critical to man's existence. The essence of that relationship is duty, what one ought to do in relationship to others=Ethics.

"Support my morality"? I am almost 70 and think I have found that treating people as I wish to be treated is just a damn good idea. The days of mom, or some Gawd, telling me when to brush my teeth are long gone.

2

Demonstrate one moral tenet that comes from any god. This is a senseless question without evidence.

I'd hate to deal with someone who uses the biblical god's morals...

2

God is not moral, god does not exist but morality does.

Read the bible ....god is not very moral at all !!

God has nothing to do with morals. we who are proudly godless are just as moral as those with a belief in god. We have morals because they are innate in human beings and have been appropriated by religions to their own ends. I could say that we are probably more moral than those with religious conviction as we don’t need promises of heaven or threats of hell to do the right thing.

Rights and wrongs are human creations. The fact that they are not from a cosmic standard does not diminish their importance. Motivations for morality can come out of fear and compassion. It would be, "wrong," for a person to stab me so I can feel reasonably safe when I shake the hand of someone I do not know. Also, we are social animals. Despite how we too often mistreat each other, I believe that we do love each other. So we feel that it would be, "wrong," to hurt someone's feelings. We want to see more peace and harmony in the world through the motivations of fear and compassion. Actions can be affective or ineffective. In other words, their are right and wrong ways to accomplish. Rights and wrongs are means - not ends.

I choose to do what I think is good, and just. I don't need a book to tell me what is right or wrong.
