I'm autistic and I think that we're more likely to be atheist because we aren't as easily influenced by peer pressure as normal people. I think that the main reason that most people are religious is because, well, most people are religious...lol. What I mean by that is that most people will simply believe in the same as all of their friends and family, whereas autistic people are less concerned with what others think and are more likely to think for themselves.

My friend’s adult son is autistic, quite high functioning. He goes to church and hangs out with friends from his church groups. His parents don’t go to church. I’m not quite sure if he really gets the concept of God and religion but he enjoys the company of his friends. He’s quite social for an autistic individual.

I probably would be considered atheist I just like the word agnostic better. At one point in history. Atheist, was the terminology for anyone that was not Christian.
