Why are Men threatened by Intelligent hard working women?
maybe for the same reason that you act as though that is a trait of all men.
Never threaten by women, now retired still no threat. So...
I've never come across a man who has a problem with the hard working part as long as it is something that can be belittled as women's work, the intelligent part is where the trouble usually comes from, though skill in any traditionally male domain may cause angst and it's not all men. Knew one man who preferred to employ women because it meant so much less male macho bs, The manager/foreman of his metal fabrications business, accountant, solicitor and so on were all women.
Why do so many women think they're intelligent and hard working?
Stand by for rage!
@bigpawbullets
He is talking about the ones who think they are, but aren't !
@VAL3941
Doesn't matter Val. I sense a great disturbance in The Force....
Patriarchal socialization. Fear of being called out for macho posturing bullshit.
Maybe, if taught to value "scoring" with as many women as possible, dumb or naive women seem much less challenging.
I've found that the good ones aren't at all - rather they welcome such women !
Why do you think they are? If they are perhaps you need to make different choices. I think you find not all men are the same...kinda like all women definitely are not the same.
Never helps in dating/relationships to keep throwing the responsibility on the other party. It is important to be introspective on why things didn't work and take as much accountability as you can. Then you have a baseline for making progress on yourself as part of a partnership
I'm not. I love intelligent hard-working women. who enjoys hanging out with stupid lazy people
Because they are intellegent and hard working !
@VAL3941
civilization
The score is tied! The crowd goes wild!!!
@bigpawbullets
American English uses z, civilised nations use s ! LOL
@VAL3941
Hey, we're rebellious colonials and we're celebrating that tomorrow.
@bigpawbullets
OK ! Will forgive you on your celebration day. Just remember we were colonials too.
Because their mother...in their very own stupidity....convinced them they are the "kings of the world".
"We are the masters of the universe!!!"
@bigpawbullets See, all those people who feel themselves as you say...are the easiest to fool....
Some men are quite different. I am thinking about Frank Butler, a traveling sharpshooter, who was embarrassingly beaten in a shooting match by Phoebe Ann Mosey. Frank responded by courting Phoebe until she agreed to marry him, and then spent the rest of his life managing her career as Annie Oakley. Irving Berlin later wrote a song about them titled "You Can't Get a Man with a Gun", but in real life that's exactly what Phoebe/Annie did.
I prefer them. Can someone find me one who would spend time with me?? I'm not exactly chopped liver.
I'm happy and proud that my wife of 41 years is both cleverer and harder working than me! I only get the shits when my daughter points it out for the 5,000th time...
I find that people that claim to be intelligent aren't by virtue of the claim itself.
May as well claim to be a stable genius.
I also notice that people that can sit in an air conditioned office chair for 8 hours with breaks for drinks snacks and lunch claiming to be working hard a bit of a stretch.
Well I'm attracted to them, not threatened by them, so that's certainly not true of all men.
For various reasons (mainly illness) I have ended up as the sole (or virtually sole) breadwinner during most of my relationships, but that has not been the plan or any need of mine. I find intelligence and curiosity very attractive, and that tends to be associated with having one's own career and interests and professional relationships.
My daughter is the sole breadwinner in her household. Her husband intermittently sells a painting or flips an appliance he repairs, but has the primary housekeeping / child rearing role in the relationship. He tends to feel inadequate about this but I think that's just coming from what society imposes in trying to pigeonhole him. For most men, our identity still seems indefensible if we're not "providing" materially as our primary role in life, and it probably is worse if there's an inversion of traditional roles in the marriage, as with him. In theory, there's nothing wrong with it and alot right with it; in practice, it runs against the expectations of most others.
Anyway I admire my son-in-law and think he's a Real Man. I just wish he FELT more like one. And am proud that I managed to raise a strong woman as my daughter, too.
