CONFESSION: Yes, it's my fault for trying to date in a stupidly religious state but after the 100th time of seeing in a woman's profile that the guy she seeks "must love god" or "fear god" or "god comes first," I had to finally reply and I sent this:
"Love god for letting families die on boats? For allowing racist, idiot presidents? For letting people go into schools killing children? Oh, if that's just man's free will then why love god? and if it's all god's plan you know what you can do with god."
So what better place to confess than here...I don't feel much better because I still have to find someone, so sorry for wasting your time.

I think most of us have felt what you're feeling. And I'm not even in an overly religious state. I'm just glad when they post it in their profile so I don't find out after I've "wasted" time on them.

Just ignor the loonies. I’ve seen the same. It does no good to harass them.

They are doing you a favor to let you know not to waste your time with them. Too bad people don't post, "I'm a self centered jerk".πŸ™‚

I think that's next generation πŸ™‚

I feel your pain brother. After a certain point of loneliness, β€œmust love god”, doesn’t sound as concrete.
Hopefully it’s a mistake you only have to make once. Good luck in love.

Go ahead, vent. It is therapeutic. It always helps. It may not solve the problem but it gets the emotions out of the way so you an figure out what to do next. At least that is how it works for me. The whole dating thing is a mystery to me, so I really don't have any advice on that issue. Wish I did. Don't give up? Sorry that's all I got on the whole dating thing. πŸ˜€

Sorry for your 'luck'.
I don't even bother trying to find someone anymore. Especially not through dating sites. If it's going to happen at all, it'll be the old-fashioned way. And I'm not holding my breath for that either.

I feel you but you let negative energy seize you. Just ignore them . Hang in there.

Trust me, if they had gotten to me I would have quit long ago...just had surgery and couldn't take it anymore, that's all. Still in the game.

Well, that probably won’t accomplish anything ?. I sometimes get a match labeled β€œ95%” - and the other 5% is Catholic. NOPE.
I get the idea of respecting someone else’s opinions, but when their basic beliefs about the world are in total conflict with mine, that’s not something I want to avoid talking about with a partner.

It's the same for women, or at least it was for me. I found men who believe in the supernatural really... scary after a while. They use religion as a cover-up for their weird sh*t. And I found true believers were scarier still. All that obsession with 'sinning.' Whatever. I stopped trying to date. Now I'm just making friends now. It's easier, and if a friendship leads to more then good, at least we'll know each other better, and the fact that I'm irreligious should not come as a surprise to a potential mate.

Not a waste, we've been there. I signed up for 2 dating sites but just could not push that last submit button because I didn't feel like wading through all the jesus women. Welcome, a bunch of cool people here, enjoy.

Any indication that religion is big for them i just move on. Nothing for me there. I try to be nice and all but just couldn't ever hold my tongue enough for it to be a peaceful thing.

Yes, I get excited by the pics and then the first line of the profile is "I'm a Christian woman seeking...:" so I have to move on frequently. Just had to let my frustration out.

@lerlo I wonder sometimes if those Christian comments being made by all those women are being used to - shall we say "weed out" - some of the potential matches that may possess certain characteristics deemed to be negative. Kind of a naΓ―ve way of filtering out the men who are party animals - heavy drinkers, gamblers, addicts - bad boys of all stripes. Pretty silly - but I can see how they might think if they push the "good Christian" thing they stand a better chance of finding a "nice" man. It would be interesting to find out just how "Christian" some of those women really are.... hmmmm. ????

@Lavergne vera you are so right. Lol

@Lavergne Well I'm happy to forward you the next one and you can arrange a catfish with some guy you know...let me know how it turns out πŸ™‚

@lerlo I've had friends suggest I seek singles through churches. That would take some fine acting skills.

@lerlo that just might turn out to be freakin' hilarious! πŸ˜‰

@lerlo, @Deanervin A guy friend of mine joined a church so he could attend their "singles socials"(he was not religious at all BTW). Met a very pretty woman - dated a couple of times - she became his worst nightmare - a stalker who actually broke into his house by crawling thru a very skinny transom window. She believed that God had brought them together blah blah blah...... πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

@Lavergne yikes! Psycho can be anywhere.
