Just took a picture of Mars with my phone. It's very close today and tomorrow (July 27). Right below the Moon. If you have a good phone, show us what you've got.

I also learnt that at 4:30 am Australian EST we had the longest lasting lunar eclipse for many years and years to come. Apparently it lasted something in the order of 1.5 hours. I was fast asleep and missed it but as I didn't know about it had the soundless sleep of the unconcerned.

Nice! I'll give it a try tonight, weather permitting.

Just because I have a phone, I am not going to show you what I've got. At my age, it ain't worth looking at.

I'm hoping for a clear night here to catch the blood moon and Mars

Nice photo, you're lucky, nothing but cloud here.

Thanks for the pic. It’s too cloudy to even see the moon here.

Wait! I can see canals on this thing. I think there is intelligent life on Mars. They are probably smarter than most Earthlings.

It looked a few hours ago as if it is very close to the full moon also which may affect your photo exposures. I notice that it will be another 269 years before earth and mars are in such close proximity.
The full moon is possibly also affecting some of your respondents also looking at the quality of the replies to your interesting post.

Supposedly the Aurora Borealis is supposed to be visible from the Seattle area tonight too, but I'm not getting my hopes up...

It's been scary bright for weeks now, and peaks in the next few nights. I'm currently living in southern Thailand so I get to see the eclipse of the moon tonight in the wee hours.
