He stands for what he believes. I think that as agnostics or atheists we should not be afraid to come out, show courage and let others know we're not so scary. Your friends know and like you already and you might find they have similar views.
It's also encouraging to see that his employer, and presumably by extension, the sponsors are OK with what he's doing. That's a good sign, I think.
