My son and I just watched Geralds Game on Netflix and I really enjoyed it!
I am a huge fan of Stephen Kings work and also enjoyed the remake of "It".

The movie "Geralds Game" touched on some psychologically damaging things that I can relate to. So bringing it to this community, without going into specifics, I know some of us have had devastating experiences to make us NOT believe there is a god.

My first suicide attempt was at 4 yrs old. The way I attempted it is rather lame by adult standards but please keep in mind this was the mind of a 4 yr old-

I stool at the top of a hill on a rainy day and threw my head back and placed my arms in a V above my head and as loud as I could I screamed "god dammit" and awaited the lightening bolts to strike me dead. I know it sounds silly but as a 4 yr old it was a serious attempt. i assumed a naughty child saying the ultimate cuss word would surely be struck dead. I said it a few more times before shrugging my shoulders and going home.

The movie Geralds Game gave me a few flashbacks of my own that all the psychology in the world seemed to have missed with me. Sometimes it takes finding out there isn't a god and even our own family can be the biggest monsters in our lives, while at the same time reminding us that we are ultimately responsible for our own happiness.

You certainly conjured an indelible picture of your attempt. I imagine you might have already had the vocabulary to think to yourself, "This is Bullshit." while going home. It shows me that we need to rethink the way we see 4 year olds as being more than capable of deep thought. I've seen the monsters and know they're real. I'm still dealing with some of them. Unfortunately, some probably many people still think other people outside themselves are responsible for making them happy.

Yes I am one who has vivid memories of being 2. A cousin remembers lying in het crib and lying across someones shoulder while being burped. Amazing the odd things we can recall
