On dating sites, everyone says they like long walks on the beach. When I am at the beach, no one is walking down the beach, they are all sitting.

What gives?

[Is it actually a code only I don't know, about a type of sex or drug? ??]

Haha! I was just saying on a different thread that it’s remarkable that every single man on dating sites is so active and into the outdoors.

Not this one. I'm into power lounging.

1

Marketing, everyone says what they think others want to hear. Not much different than a preacher, falsehoods to bring more business in.

How can people KNOW everyone says it and yet say it too?

I like the ones that say, "All my friends tell me I'm smart, funny, kind, and fun to be around." Sure they do.

1

And either every man is extremely active (in the City it means they work out 5-7 times a week; in the country they play seven sports) or they think we want them to. They probably think we will imagine them fit and toned. I imagine them as exhausting and no time for me.

I missed that code completely. I like air conditioning and food that requires a fork. Sometimes I get crazy and open a window and eat tacos.

2

There's a lot of code talking going on I think. I'll know it's not code when I see " Female 50 seeks multiple orgasms from someone who makes great coffee and a dynamite omelet in the morning".

How did you know? I wrote I like long walks on the beach and hangliding!

@LionMousePudding I sent away for the secret decoder ring.

@LionMousePudding also I spent a long time learning how to cook and make naughty parts tingle.

@Tompain1 Then I expect a lot more than an egg and coffee ??

@LionMousePudding be carefull not to limit yourself with expectations. Life is an adventure, not a guided tour.

Maybe they mean the movie "The Beach" ?

I just think a romanticized idea. It's a public yet tranqual setting to kick your shoes off and spend some time together. Just talking or saying nothing at all. Can be followed up with some dinner with some wine. Often leads to a romantic evening by the fire in a nice hotel with more wine. We all know where this is going. Que the 70s porn music.

Ever skimmed a dating profile and seen one or more of these lines?

‘I love to travel’

‘I’m laid back, easy-going, and love to have a good time’

‘I’m looking for someone honest, caring and kind’

‘I don’t really know what to write on one of these things’

‘My family is really important to me’

It can get pretty boring reading the same clichés over and over, and after a while it becomes hard to distinguish one profile from another.

20 online dating cliches- and what they mean:

[bbc.com]

Or the whole profile is "ask me," like the whole point of the dating profile isn't to figure out who to date, not just go out with every guy on the site and ask them about themselves!

@LionMousePudding omg, yes, I hate that!

@LiterateHiker Sorry, having been to over 25 countries I DO love to travel, guess I shouldn't admit something so pedestrian huh? 🙂 I did put in the I like to laugh as a joke because most people hate that right?

@LionMousePudding

"Email me to find out more." I figure they are too dumb and lazy to bother writing a profile.

Your profile and photos are an advertisement to attract the type of person you want to date.

@LiterateHiker I figure they must be the ones who only look at photos so they think women do too.

NOT!

"Looking for a partner in crime"

"Work hard and play harder" (exhausting again! Plus sounds painful)

But actually what really weirds me out is "just an average guy looking for an average girl," like, you are going to ADMIT that? Lol.

Or when they list their school as the school of hard knocks... next!
Flipping the bird in any of your profile pics... next!
Ethically non-monogoma... NEXT!

@Remi at least I have never seen any men flip the bird! I guess women are going for the "look what a cute, sassy, bad girl I am" vibe. Funny.

@Remi should I add this one to my profile?

@LionMousePudding I want someone adventurous and I actually have been plotting a certain misdemeanor for about 24 years now and still looking for someone to partner with me 🙂

A partner in crime. I don't commit crimes. I see those on forensic TV shows who were partners in crime and in the end they go to different prisons. Just sayin'.

Lies..and more lies...

There's peace in telling vthe truth, since no one ever wanted to date me for being honest, I am great ful that my hand never get tired of aiding me in masterbation, it's a great friend and reliable.

On a few Ive mentioned I'm not adventurous, I don't travel, and I do think like going to the gym. But apparently everyone else does

The gym, a place of self torture for an aduience where you try and out stink each other. So romantic

@Savage
I lift weights to develop muscle and gain strength. This allows me to do the things I love: hiking and running.

The gym is not a pick-up place. Nowadays, most people wear earplugs while working out. Earplugs are a giant "BUZZ OFF!" sign.

2

I dislike long walks.

I dislike the beach.

I am a failure at romance lmao

3

You must not be in Oregon then. We don't sit on the beach because it's either too windy, too cold, or raining ? we walk!

Remi Level 7 Aug 11, 2018

Ha! That’s right! I’m an Oregonian too! ?

2

They may be sitting when you pass by, but how did they get there?

2

It's cos some moron a long tie, ago decided long walks on the beach was romantiv so they think that if they write it it will come true ...when in reality any kind of walk is way to much effort for them

2

Nobody tells the actual truth on these sites I am sure......it’s probably what they think sounds romantic! ?

Sorry, my sister lives on the ocean in Palm Beach and I never miss a walk on the beach when I'm there. For some reason when with someone else I can walk on a beach for a long time and not notice the time or distance as I would on regular ground. When I'm walking I see others walking. Maybe it depends on the beach, crowds etc. Although I can recommend sex on the beach, the act not the drink, I actually do like to walk on the beach and do it whenever I can.

I do like long walks on the beach. I used to live near the ocean and I walked on the beach often. I did that once with my last boyfriend. I think that people pretend. Unlike the guy who just posted below me, I do not recommend sex on the beach. Would you to sandpaper your privates?

Sex on the beach? I do not like sand in the crack of my ass or certain other places.

@DenoPenno salt waters' even worse.

2

I would never think to write about walking on the beach, but on the rare occasion when I'm at the beach my wife and I always walk a few miles up the beach and back. Always early in the morning or just before dark, and there are always quite a few others walking, running, walking their dog or looking for shells.
It could be the time of day you're there, or maybe some beaches are different.

4

I just posted, but something else came to me just after I submitted it. Back when I was looking at singles ads, women would always say they liked hiking. At the time, I was into backpacking and did a lot of hiking, so it's one of the things I was looking for.
A lot of the women I eventually met didn't care anything about hiking even though they put it there like it was a huge part of their lives. Hiking to them was walking from the car to the grocery store, and then they would park as close as possible.

@Eazyduzzit

"I love hiking!" men proclaim on the phone. Turns out they last hiked in the Army at age 18, or last backpacked in their 20s.

They show up badly overweight and out of shape. No hiking gear.

I'm not in the habit of carrying an oxygen tank for my date.

2

The phrase is nearly always an indicator of not-much-there. Move on......

4

I actually live on the beach, but it's rare that I'll take a long walk on it.
Mostly I like to just sit there and absorb the nature.
The sound of the waves, The sounds of seagulls, just looking out at the horizon, things like that.
The best though is that I live on the west coast, so we get some amazing sunsets.

I shall take a long walk to visit you, then!

3

I don't know what it is. I live in Missouri and everyone likes "long walks on the beach." We have none. We have no oceans. When I lived in Texas and went to Galveston it was usually too hot for long walks on the beach. What gives with this saying? Wishful thinking maybe.
