Is anyone else finding it hard to keep up with discussions on this site? I am a bit overwhelmed and losing interest due to the stream of continuous new posts. Many of them being pretty blah. How do you keep interest and relevant?

Thanks for the post. We're working on how to show more posts that are of interest to you. For now, click the "gear" icon that's above "Recent Member Activity" and select which categories of posts you'd like to see more/less of. Obviously, since you made the post, we're not doing a good enough job on that. Open to hear other members' ideas too!

Perhaps tweaking the point system to favor comments over posts? That way there might be fewer posts with more discussion.

Hi Admin! I think most people use the Follow tool to see people with similar interests posts, would it be an idea to have a "who I follow" page, of just those peoples posts? that way as this site gets busier we could perhaps have the option to flick between favourite members and all members, so that we can still be involved and making new friends but also stop the drowning in posts we're not so interested in? just a thought, I really do appreciate all your efforts and it's been great watching the site and it's members evolve. Thanks!

Perhaps we could make it possible to follow categories (and sub-categories when we get them) and maybe even tags?

I browse by subject. I’ve also started to search by tags.

I agree, posts are becoming redundant—same questions over and over. This is what happens when people don’t bother to search old posts, seeing what’s already there. This also happens when people just don’t care (or know) that there are archived posts.

"The universe is so big there must be aliens somewhere," for example. I'm wondering how long it'll be before there are more posts like that on this site than there are planets in the universe that could potentially support life.

Support life...I think we need to remember that not all life need the same things.

I also think there is life out there. How can we be open minded and claim there isn’t the possibility. 😉

Just comment on the ones YOU find worthy of responding to . You're not required to answer all, unless you're a "point junkie", and are doing it to rack up the numbers !

I scan through, and pass by those that are too generalized, trivial, or simply don't interest me.

ditto

I don't mind it. I suspect many of the posts are made for level points. There will always be those gunning for the "points" in "the game," and that's okay by me.

The one or two great posts that come along on occasion are worth wading through a sea of blah. 😀

start your own topic or look at the categories that interest me, read bios or look at the posts if a particular individual

You can make them a little more interesting, and just like any site operating on random people, it’s hit and miss. Sometimes it’s nice to challenge yourself to get out of your comfort zone and do a little research, iv learned a lot by letting the conversations guide my google searches. You can find a lot of relevant information from seemingly “uninteresting” posts.

The big problem is the same questions.

I've trained my eyes to pick out interesting stuff at a glance. I hope you won't lose interest too much - your posts and comments are among the ones that don't make me think "blah!"

Key in And follow the ones of most interest.
I too am seeing some posts that aren't of interest, but , I also appreciate the new blood.
Some are really cool, actually quite a few...
Hang in there...

This is the first site that I have become a part of that is not intensively focused on discussions concerning religion, atheism or theology. I would like to see a discussion board so that those who wish to ask questions or have deep discussions could post there. I simply thumb through the how's the weather post and only join discussions that are interesting and where I might contribute. This site is much more fun than others as here I can throw down a few jokes.

I followed a few people who have posted interesting things and focus on the notifications. After that I'll scroll through the first page to see if there is anything interesting.

Pick and choose what you're interested in.

Don't be overwhelmed just look for topics you like and read comment absorb. No reason to make it laborious it is a lot of fun.

Well, you are not required to contribute to all discussions. I read, first, those that are one-liners.., then, go to the two liners...and so on.

I've been working on a way to group tags better... you see it (in development) at [agnostic.com] but I need help coming up with themes and picking top tags for each. I'll make a post to crowd source it (I'm swamped!)

I wander through and only even click on the ones that catch my eye. The title has to draw me in. There's a lot here, so I would hope there's something for everyone. When all else fails, post something you'd like to talk about!

You can select the few whose post you found relevant and follow only their posts. Or find the category of your interest and follow that category alone. You don't need to be in all discussions after all.

Not just you, the subject matter can be like riding a bike on flat ground. Resistance comes fast bc its not easy.

I've had to categorised what I want to look into.
