Although they used to, other dating sites no longer work for me. This one sounds like an interesting concept. Otherwise, how do you rule out the religious and extremely conservative?

I don't know. I was on a couple different sites briefly, recently, and it seemed like respondents weren't really reading what I had put down as criteria. For instance, I'm quite physically active and made it clear that I was looking for the same in a potential partner; yet I would still get respondents who were clearly not in any way capable of, for instance, playing racquetball, or mountainbiking. And, after reading their profiles, and seeing that they had designated some religious affiliation, or other, I'd feel compelled to point out to them my pointed lack of same. The upshot is, I have quit those sites out of frustration. So, I don't know what the answer is.

As far as political leaning, that can be gotten out of the way upfront, I think, by just stating one is not a fan of the current administration.

YES!
All the dating sites have changed drastically!
It is all about collecting money from you and not protecting you!
Too many trolls, fakes, frauds and scammers!
It has become a waste of time!
When ever they state they are in love with god or jesus, or want a godly person, it makes me wonder!
Were they not still involved with a religious member like themselves!
So why go on a dating site, is it god(s) will??
LOL!
One site charges men to be only on one site, yet lets women who paid for only one site to be posted on their five other sites!
It is more of a cyber game than a way to meet some one of substance!

I'm on POF too, but it's really changed. 8 years ago I met a man on there, who I had a 7 year relationship with, so I had high hopes, but 9 months later, I'm very discouraged on who's out there now. Loads of scammers on there too!

@Paintmebright it became easy for me to tell because their profiles were ridiculous! Men just don't talk that way - all mushy and romantic. Most of them are seeking marriage too. What man says that right up front?

I wouldn't consider this a dating site, though obviously dating is not discouraged, which is a good thing, I think we should feel free to contact others without being thought of as out of line. Don't know if there is the coverage of members to be effective for dating though.

I've not had much success with dating sites either, especially because I don't have $100 to spend on each one just to get chatting priveleges. As a couple people have said, I also look at their bio and disregard anybody who says anything about being a strong believer or anything about god.

Hi Curiousladydi,
tell the person you don't believe god is real and wait for the reply if he is religious they will come up with that god is real some will say that god even has talked to them and to an extremely conservative say you are going to have an abortion and wait for their answer,if they are conservative they might say you are mudering a child which you know is only an embryo.

I have tried a few other dating sites with mixed results. I say mixed because I have not found the 'one' but I had found a few women that have become very close friends. On other sites a look for key things to avoid. If the person mentions God or faith in their general profile then I avoid them like the plague. It's not that they are bad people or we could not be friends but we can not be mates.

I've never used another dating site - meeting people that way just doesn't appeal to me. This site feels more natural to me: we talk about various topics, which creates friendships which may blossom into more. I think, as the community grows and more of us find more people in our locales signing up, we may well see some success stories. 🙂

I really like that this community is not only for dating. It feels a lot less contrived. We actually have and find things to talk about, and if something more develops with someone, that would be total gravy. If not, I already have a great life and won't every feel like this is a waste of time.

Chat and bio.
Been using free bumble, okc, pof, and paying match... all a joke.
At least here, get conversation and it's free with Like-Minded people!

You look at people's profiles, talk to them on messenger, complete your profile with pics and a bio. Follow their posts. Welcome to our freethinker community.

Exactly. I'm not messing around anymore. I don't want to have to pretend to respect their beliefs. Agnostic, Atheist, or doubting Christian (or Muslim) is all I might be willing to pursue.

Your not the only guy that thinks like that. I don't fraternize with theist anymore either.

Hard to rule it out if it's not listed in the bio. But if you make it to the first date, order bacon wrapped shrimp and watch their reaction. 😉

Welcome and may you find Fun in this little place. I know nothing of dating sites. I am a virgin here. But we will grow bigger with time. To the point of christians and muslims looking for hook-ups without attachments here too.

I’m still on pof, but it gets me nowhere. Like you, I’m in Texas and, as an agnostic, I get lille interest. Welcome aboard. Good luck.

7

True. This site is ideal for like-minded individuals. Sadly, there are far too few available in many areas on this site.

I would even put in my bio, I'm an atheist. Theists kept coming at me.

I'm almost certain that they don't read the bio.

They look at the pictures only.

Fer sure. I live in a very conservative state, most men claim to be "christians." When I let them know I'm not religious I don't hear from them again. Except for the scammers.

Sorry to hear that. I just don't understand some people and then again are representatives of religion and crime.
