What's your favorite way to celebrate your birthday? πŸ™‚

My birthday is in exactly two weeks... normally I do something or go somewhere but this year I can't figure out. I've gone to Disneyland, Canada and PDX recently for my birthday, trying to stay close to home. I thought of Vegas but I'd be alone... it's on labor day this year so everyone will be out and about... idk, I'm coming up short on ideas and its rounding the corner quickly! (I have a small to moderate budget, no last minute trips to Rome, lol!)

I usually try to get new tattoos on mine and my son’s birthdays.

2

For my last birthday, I invited all my friends to drop in at my house any time from 4-10 pm. I invited them to stay for 5 minutes or 5 hours, and bring food and/or drink if they wanted to.

It was amazing.

@pepperjones That does put a damper on things.

Come on out to Asheville! We'll help you celebrate! πŸ™‚

I celebrate all month! So should you! Give yourself a mini spa day! You have a lot to celebrate...whatever you do will be fun for you!

@pepperjones My actual day is the first of the month of March...I celebrate that with cake! ha ha

Some sort of a getaway experience. Last year, I took my son to one of my favorite camping areas. Might be doing something similar this weekend - finding a new favorite place, provided the Cascades don't burn up before then.

I have not celebrated my birthday since I was 21. So I like to treat it like any other day. ?

1

I tend to clock in unless it's a rare day off work.

Sapphire and Tonic and my family.

1

I tend to go on holiday with my mate who's birthday is a week after mine and we get pissed every night for the fortinght and forget everything...but each to their own...lol..

Opera, or some kind of adrenaline thing. Repel off of something ridiculous, things that go too fast, sky dive, something adventurous.

Oooo, also camping and hiking.

I joined a LARP group a few years back . Each year we hold a couple of events at my home . Since the lady who runs the LARP and I are just a week apart , we may plan an event around that time , but don't tell the others we're celebrating our birthdays . We have a great time , with a lot of like minded friends .

Give myself a party, request "no gifts" but Balloons...tie them to the pool deck just outside the back door, enjoy for weeks!

I usually take my kids out to dinner, but that isn't exactly unusual.

I'd say it the road less traveled and see where it goes. Find something interesting that is near you and have fun.

I'll be at a race in Indy. You can join me there.

@pepperjones Not with me πŸ˜‰

@pepperjones I don't think Indy is in Florida...

I never really got into the habit of celebrating in any given way. I was born on July 2 and we had family birthdays throughout the first couple of weeks in July, so we combined them with a huge Independence Day party ... so I had to wait to celebrate. On the other hand, I was in elementary school before I realized not everyone had fireworks on their birthday. πŸ™‚

You’ve had quite a year, so perhaps something that makes you feel indulged, like the Salish Lodge or something in Vancouver, which would be cool with or without a friend? Or do you feel like totally cutting loose?

@pepperjones Yeah, I see you more cutting loose, with maybe a "recovery" spa day. Maybe just go with spontaneity.

Wow, @pepperjones, now you have a personal recommendation to consider. @ISO100, is there anything in particular you recommend about it?

@ISO100 Okay, you got me - I had to go Google some pictures. It's beautiful being near the falls like that. I haven't been to that part of the country in a while but I'll add this to my list for next time. Thank you!

Spend it with your kids , that isnt to exciting but family is good i think, or maybe something totally different

This is only tangentially off topic but i stopped celebrating my birthday (and most other holidays) decades ago.

I was always a little uncomfortable with all of the attention and then after 8 years in the USAF as a firefighter, I gave up on holidays all together. When you work a 24 on/24 off schedule, you are expected to work despite whatever holiday it may be.

Then when I finally for my atheistic side, I really started not participating any holiday that had religious origins like Christmas or Easter.

I'm not much of a nationalist and so tend to shy away from big 4th of July gatherings. I'll just find a secluded spot with a good view or watch some fireworks on TV.

I was a bit of a gypsy until my 30s (Navy brat and 8 years USAF) and so never really had extended contact with cousins or grand parents so was never emotionally invested in typical family centrist holidays like Thanksgiving.

Normally I like to go out to dinner and have drinks with my closest friends. This year, though, there just happened to be a 5k happening in my town (it’s called the More Cowbell 5k and you get a cowbell medal for completing it lol) on my birthday, which is in less than a month, and I signed up for that with my bestie. I’ll probably still do dinner, too, though.

Is Christopher Walken going to be there? ?

@IamNobody doubtful, but that would certainly be epic.

@Leeshi oh well, one thing is sure without any doubt.... We all need more cowbell !! ??

September 3rd? Your birthday is on Labor Day this year. I think you should go to work! lol

Several options: 1) Drive east to Leavenworth WA. If you haven't been, it's different and friendly. 2) Make a list of all the people in your life who had an effect on you, positive or negative. It's easy to find them now with FB. Message the positive ones and thank them for their worth in your life. Then cross the negative ones off your list. 3) Send insignificant birthday presents with a homemade card to your loved ones. Tell everyone in advance that you want nothing in the way of gifts or cards. remember, it's the though that counts. 4) If the smoke isn't to bad, visit the Columbia Gorge. Part of the gorge was burned in a forest fire, but most of it, in all its glory, is open, available and amazing. On the WA side, if you are reasonably healthy, climb Beacon Rock. If you are really tough, climb Dog Mountain. On the Oregon side, the Hood River Valley fruit season is here and there are well
over twenty wineries and fruit stands to visit. Stop in downtown at Celilo for a drink/dinner or Solstice for pizza on the water front.

Wherever you decide or even if you dont, try this. Just go to a bar with a "Its my birthday" button on you. You are a very good looking woman, its labor day, need I say more? I doubt if you will have to buy a drink all night

I like to do something I've never done before. Go somewhere weird. My last birthday I went to a small city in Germany (Bamberg) to see one of my favorite bands play. It was totally worth it!

I don't know, go bungee jumping or something crazy lol

Ps: if I don't have money, I like to spend some time with my friends or family, and it is great as well!

Take in the sights and sounds of Wimberley TX. I promise you a bang up good time. ?

@pepperjones Yes, we could do that too. There is also San Antonio or Austin. ☺

A fancy train trip?

@pepperjones
I wonder if they still have restored old fashioned trains for comfortable long trips. I'm thinking across Canada. You could still get into a lot of mischiefs but the people and the scenery keep changing.
How about this. There are a bunch of guys from Canada here. Invite them to accompany you in stages across Canada.
Now that would be a trip to remember.

@pepperjones
Well there you go. Bon voyage.
