I put it in my head that I can travel faster than the speed of light and my brain just kind of hums.

I get that!

Nature.

Beautiful

Music.... always music

Scotland and Ireland. Specifically the coast. Can't wait to go back.

4

The wilderness. The smell of rain in the desert.

4

Outdoors. In the forest or by the water. Painting, meditating, and music help my mood.

The outdoors is straight up magical.

If I cannot be happy here and now why would I want to imagine that I might be happy somewhere else? Is happiness a place or state of being? 🙂

Word

Everyone has a rough day, just curious what people do to make it better. I'm fond of contemplating crazy scenarios and posing what if questions.

Here's a way to improve your day in less than 5 seconds:

The beach. Also, camping.

I basically brainwash myself lol. I just tell myself over and over again that it's gonna be okay, it'll all just be the past one day.. If it's not something that is still going to upset me in 10 years it's not worth being upset over right now.. Blah blah blah.. Usually works.

Thinking about my loved ones.

2

Backpacking at Dolly Sods. My happy place

2

On my motorcycle, going anywhere, or no place at all.
<-yeah, that one right there.
There is a reason dogs stick their head out the window!

2

Surfing or paddle boarding, that's where I am the happiest

Music.

For example: this wonderful link; found it on this site a few days ago.

When Sissel finishes her last stanza with such beauty; enriched with the amazingly warm and rich aid of a tender orchestra and choir; such warm and soft emotion. Reminds me of my old orchestra and choir days. Although I was never a part of this work; to be a part of the production group effort of beauty evokes a feeling of bliss.

Hiking in Custer State Park in South Dakota. I don't worry about anything there. Sadly, I am moving away but I'll find another.

2

Watching the local turtle on my lawn. He seems really happy just eating grass and hanging out.

2

Birds, horses, mules, donkeys, nature.

2

My bathtub and my barstool.

2

My happy place is with my daughter. But music will nearly always do it for me 🙂

my shower

Excellent choice. Reminds of days in the field (army training) after being totally grunged dirty, sweaty, hot and sticky) walking bare footed over metal grate to a large wooden building modified with dozens of shower heads then reaching up to open the valve and the icy water felt amazing, washing the grunge away leaving you alive and able to appreciate the smells of summer and the beauty of the sunset as you trudge back into the grass walkway to find your old wooden barracks with dirt floors. Good times.

@NoMagicCookie Absolutely nothing feels better.

When I'm dancing wherever it might be.

Hard to argue while dancing! Bravo!

These are all such excellent answers! My happy places are almost solely in my head, lodged in my imagination. I guess I'm a bit more flighty. I can't help but think something ridiculous like, if the multiverse theory is real, there is a version of me out there somewhere that is a squirrel and owns a pony. Something outlandish that makes me giggle.

A DUI arrest I made on my job as a ranger brings a smile and happy thought.

That has to be an excellent story.

@CommonHuman It was a fun job. Some men who have too much to drink are so cute and funny. But I can't tell the story.

My happy place has to start when I awake. When I say to myself "whats your choise today"? And I tell myself chose to be happy, positive, alive. Or chose to be sad, negative, dead.. Generally does't take long, just long enough for a cup of coffee, and I'm ready to take on whatever comes....And its smiles and hugs for all comers.

Traveling and the process of planning where to go. Making music. Picking a little banjo. Playing bass with our celtic band. Gardening. Nothing like vine ripe tomatoes. Hanging out with friends. Hiking in the woods, or local parks and wetlands. Seeing my great grandson. He laughs at everything, and is always trying to figure out how things work. An engineer in the making. Cuddling with my sweetie.
