I hope you can read this, John McCain's last words from his last book. Very well written, very good read.

John McCain was a human being, a man, a politician foremost and a conservative one. His actions, whether good or bad, helpful or harmful, was dictated by his political mindset and philosophy. We ALL have such a mindset and that is just how it is. He made his mark on this country and on the world to an extent. Take it for what it is worth.

“Helped make a peace.” What? He pushed the war in Iraq, championed the collapse of Syria and Libya, voted against stopping siege warfare in Yemen, and sought war with Iran and North Korea. Immediately after his time as a POW, he argued for the carpet bombing of Cambodia which killed half a million civilians. Talk about white washing history...

If there were such a thing as a "soul," John McCain's conscience informed the "soul" of his party, and we can only hope that a renewal of cooperation, civility and collaboration is in his party's future, thanks in no small part, to the example of this maverick politician. The party machinery has bequeathed to us our present nightmare--our current reality. And yet, with more mavericks and fewer party faithful (on both sides), cooperation, civility and collaboration could become more palatable. Until then, all we seem to have are zero sum games and wars of extermination on Capital Hill, enabling the Executive to dominate the agenda.

I might not have always agreed with his political beliefs, but he was definitely a good man. RIP

Okay, so now I'm bawling. What a great man.

A class act. Not a single mention of a mythical deity.

Say what you want about him (and I do not attempt to disguise that in some ways I was less than impressed with the man) but he seems to have perfected the art of focusing on positives. He honestly seems to have neither regrets nor disappointments to nurse. A true optimist. And that is something I can try to emulate.

Well spoken. A man of courage, honor, and dignity. Let us hope that his example becomes to beacon to Republican politicians, drawing them back to the light of honor, integrity, and patriotism so they can serve us and our country well.
