He was finally arrested and sent to prison for marrying a 14 year old girl which I thought was appropriate as many of his marriages were pretty much arranged by Mormon religious nuts. However I have no problem with polygamy among consenting adults.

I worked with a guy who had four live in partners. It seemed to work for him. That being said, there are numerous cases in which polygamy involved minors, incest and domination.

There are TENS, if not HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS more cases every years in which monogamy involved minors, incest and domination, right?
@BlueWave Yah. I would think so. I was specifically thinking of the "old school" Mormon sects in rural Utah. The LDS church has now officially banned polygamy. However, in these old sects the wifes are often under age, are just expected to marry certain men and not given a choice, and are expected to be subservient. It is, or at least was, a bit of a stand off between authorities and human services Vs these Mormon sects.
Why do guy's want acceptance to legally fool around? I see no love in this kind of relationship. Just lust and control.

Polygamy (from Late Greek ?????????, polygamía, "state of marriage to many spouses" )[1][2][3][4] is the practice of marrying multiple spouses. When a man is married to more than one wife at a time, sociologists call this polygyny. When a woman is married to more than one husband at a time, it is called polyandry. If a marriage includes multiple husbands and wives, it can be called a group marriage.
In contrast, monogamy is marriage consisting of only two parties. Like "monogamy", the term "polygamy" is often used in a de facto sense, applied regardless of whether the state recognises the relationship.[n 1] In sociobiology and zoology, researchers use polygamy in a broad sense to mean any form of multiple mating.
Worldwide, different societies variously encourage, accept or outlaw polygamy. Of societies which allow or tolerate polygamy, in the vast majority of cases the form accepted in polygyny. According to the Ethnographic Atlas (1998), of 1,231 societies noted, 588 had frequent polygyny, 453 had occasional polygyny, 186 were monogamous and 4 had polyandry;[5] although more recent research suggests polyandry may be more common than previously thought.[6] From a religious point of view, in contemporary society polygyny is associated with the Muslim religion, although not all Muslim cultures practice it, and neither is it restricted to this religion. In cultures which practice polygamy, its prevalence among that population is often connected to class and socioeconomic status.[7]
From a legal point of view, in many countries, although marriage is legally monogamous (a person can only have one spouse, and bigamy is illegal), adultery is not illegal, leading to a situation of de facto polygamy being allowed, although without legal recognition for non-official "spouses".
According to scientific studies, the human mating system is considered to be moderately polygynous, based on both surveys of world populations,[8][9] and on characteristics of human reproductive physiology.[10][11][12]

Could I do it in reality? I strongly doubt it. I can barely hold onto one man. And I've noticed most our male poly community around here has long hair. Not my bag. In fact, in this reoccurring fantasy, both my lovers look exactly like Dolph Lundgren. (To clarify, this is not an incestuos brother thing either, it's just an odd coincidence!!!!)
But I do know there is only one ounce of lesbian in me and it is reserved for Shannon Doherty.
So.... I try not to concern myself in other's love affairs. Well, from a "morally superior" stance. If you've got video tapes to share, I'll grab the popcorn.

My only concern about it that - it often appears to be a way for powerful religious (male) leaders to control & subjugate women & younger men within the power structure of their 'church'.
Otherwise - as others have said here - as long as they are all willing, of sound mind & have a choice to leave if they want to I don't see it as my business to judge.

Your two paragraphs are precisely the difference between polygamy and polyamory.
Your top paragraph describes polygamy. Your bottom paragraph describes polyamory.
@BlueWave I see absolute zero difference between several love partners and several marriage partners. ....the law does not provide a loophole for "intent" when children ADOPTED FOSTER STEP or BIRTH arrive into these POLY lives they also cannot fully embrace intentions nor deserve the evil religions imposed by anyone

What is your opinion? I do not think it works well in majority of relationship. Most men and women are possessive and will definitely not like sharing their partners. But you can always fall for someone whether you are married or not. That is more like an accidental relationship. By that I mean you do not plan for that relationship. So if you are already married and you get attracted to or start to have feelings toward someone, will that qualify polygamous even if the two person do not make it open to each other about their feelings.

What you describe sounds like an affair -- cheating
Polyamory is very different from what we all know as polygamy as typically practiced by Mormons.
In polyamory EVERYBODY who is in that poly relationship is open, honest, forthright, in view of all, not hiding, not sneaking, not lying, utilizing their own relationship rules regarding dating, sex, affection, household maintenance, etc. etc. which have been discussed extensively before taking the dive into opening up the relationship for multiple loves.
Is a chance for a man to disappoint many women at same time

Polygamy is cultural, whether abhorred (here in the U.S.) or culturally required (Tibet). My personal view is that a family is a group the joins together for richer, for poorer (etc. etc.). If it works, and no one is harmed? All the power to them.

Is it a proposition that you are considering or are you considering it as a lifestyle choice? IMHO I am finding that as time goes on, people are less inclined to criticise you for your lifestyle choices.

I have been in a rewarding relationship with one woman for a long time. It has been enough for me. However, what others do is their business as long as no one is being damaged by it. Whatever rocks your boat, kids.

It really doesn't matter to me what other adults do within their own relationships, as long as everyone is consenting. That said, I think most of us have enough trouble navigating singular relationships as it is. Adding additional people just seems like asking for trouble.
But hey, knock yourselves out.
