Hmm. It seems the Fascists, masquerading as Republicans have identified the least powerful (marginalized) group in which to go after first to slowly them of their rights. In 1930's Europe the first group targeted was the jews. In the U.S., today, it is the Native Americans.

there is more to it than that, though that's an element. you see, they've figured out that if they oust heidi heitkamp, who is hanging onto her seat by a thread, even as conservative a democrat as she is, they might be able to keep the senate. north dakota is pretty red but the native american population tends to vote blue. they've been heitkamp's mainstay, keeping her in office. eliminate their vote and the seat goes red.

g

@genessa Yeah, I heard that N. Dakota and Arizona may glip to a blue Senator. They really don't want to face the possibility of losing majorities in both houses.

@snytiger6 north dakota already has a blue senator. that would be heitkamp. she votes like a republican some of the time, but she didn't vote for kavanaugh, and she contributes to the total number of democrats in the senate, which is extremely important.

@genessa Perhaps it was another state in the far North in the middle of hte couhntry I* was thinking of.

Since my ori9ginal remarks, I saw a video of Rachael Maddow laying the situation in North Dakota all out. How republicans changed the laws so you had to have a street adress instead of a P.O. Box in order to vote, which was aimed at preventign Native Americans from voting, as most persons on reservations dot' have street addreses, and how the Supreme Court (with the new conservative majority) ruled the law was OK, and then how the local Native Tibes went into over drive reissuing Tribal IDs with street addresses, and how it fired them al lup to turn out, which means the republican strategy may have backfired.

I am hoping that the surge of voter participation carries over into other states that have reservations.

@snytiger6 i saw that too... and in a couple/few weeks we'll know how badly it backfired, i hope!

Yes it is unspeakable. Look around and you can see what is going on. Slowly we are all going to be losing the right to vote. Once the bastards get in power we will find no way of getting them out. Isn't this what they all wanted from the beginning? It is the direction of the Trump Swamp and those behind it. Buy into the government and you can control it.

they are already in power.

g

@genessa You are exactly correct. It is explained in the book "Dark Money" but it seems that people do not really believe this even after they read the book. My bad for not seeing and I've read the book.

If you want to erode democracy and move toward creating a dictatorship run by the elite then this sounds like a great move.....

They're American citizens. They deserve all the rights and privileges bestowed on the rest of us. They shouldn't be treated as second or third class citizens. We should all be treated equally. Restore their right to vote. Get the control of the government out of the hands of the Republicans and restore some semblance of sanity on Capital Hill. If you can vote, do it. Help restore dignity to all Americans.

They should be able to use their street address and their po box.

the post office won't give tribal residents street addresses. it's not as if the native americans chose to use po boxes. i don't think most of them would even have po boxes if they were allowed to have street addresses! and why wouldn't the post office let them have street addresses to begin with? they have no choice and their voting rights are being removed because of it.

g

@KissedbySun they don’t always have streets with addresses.

@KissedbySun while the usps does not assign street addresses it does make rules regarding them. i don't think reservations have traditional streets. [ribbs.usps.gov]

g

Street addresses are nto assigned on many reservations.
