What is/are your favourite Christmas song/s? I was brought up Catholic and Christmas is an important holiday in the Philippines which celebrates one of the longest holiday seasons in the world. Believe you me Christmas songs are played over there as early as the first of September. (sighing and my eyes rolling)

Christmas songs bring back to me fond childhood memories with family and loved ones. And puppy loves and an old flame too. I don't believe in Biblical angels nor saints anymore and that Jesus was born on the 25th of December (I just cringe listening to that Boney M song, really?). Yet there's just a few tunes that I'm guilty of humming to just because (okay let me say) it happened to be my first boy-crush kiss and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas was playing on the bloody radio.

My favourites:

  1. Fairytale of New York (The Pogues): save for its controversial lyrics, it's a very popular, if not the most popular Christmas song in the UK ever. It's my boyfriend's favourite and mine as well.
  2. Grown-up Christmas List (Amy Grant)
  3. Merry Christmas Darling (The Carpenters): my parents' favourite too
  4. Because It's Christmas (Barry Manilow): for all children young and old
  5. And of course... Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas...
and Silver Bells too... my list could go on and on and on...

I like a lot of them, but my all-time favorite is Carol of the Bells especially on the piano. But I'll share this one because it just makes me smile.

A holy jolly Christmas

I still love O Holy Night. I think it's a beautiful song. It encapsulates the spirit of Christmas for Christians. One of my favorite versions is by Celine Dion. I like Josh Groban's version as well.

Baby it's Cold Outside, Holly Cole's version.

I like a lot of christmas music. I think Silent Night is my favorite.

It seems phony to celebrate Christmas if you are not a Christian. I’m calling it Yule.

I really enjoy a lot of the jazzed up versions of christmas songs.

And I stopped celebrating Christmas in high school.

@Buxx You might want to check Celine Dion's cover of O Holy Night as well. It's from the album 'These are Special Times'. Thank you for sharing.

We don’t celebrate Christmas at all or give in to the retail frenzy. My oldest daughters birthday is The end of December so of course she gets birthday gifts but as for the younger ones, they get some spending so they feel “normal” in society lol. There isn’t any Christmas tunes in our house though.

It starts with, "Santa Baby but that gets overplayed. I also enjoy Dean Martin's "Let it Snow, Let it snow." But when I'm curled up on the couch next to my girl, and I'm holding her tight warming ourselves by the fire, this is the song that makes the night perfect.

I must say this is one of my all-time favourite songs. Thank you for sharing 🙂

I've enjoyed Merry Christmas, baby for awhile. I have fond memories of being in the French quarter hearing a band play that while properly inebriated and having a blast.
