Simply put.. I believe those who describe it.

And sorry, I didn’t vote ..the exclamation point behind ‘Absolutely’ threw me off.

I don't like it (too depressing) but I've looked into the question & there are no viable competing theories, at least on the scientific level.

I hate to say absolutely, but that's pretty close. I don't think I can believe anything absolutely. I do have more faith in the scientist's findings, checked and rechecked, than a creationist story written and translated and re-translated centuries ago, if that is the question.

I agree with the other folks about your choice of words. Accept would work much better than believe. Until something with more evidence comes along I will continue to accept the theory and I have doubt that anything will replace it.

If the universe is unlimited in space and time, how can the Big Bang be the beginning of our entire universe? There must have been something before it and there must have been something somewhere else at the same time.

Some say the Big Bang is the beginning of the universe. How can something endless have a beginning?

@irascible it is not that there must have been. it is that evidence is coming through that there may have been. it is being explored.

I sometimes hear strange, banging noises late at night. I always just assumed it was the universe.

Me too… ..it’s usually on Monday mornings ..coming from the direction of our ‘green bins’ (large metal garbage boxes) 🙂

I also believe in the possibility that the Big Bang was not an isolated event. The emerging multi-verse theory says big bangs happen all the time. We may only be one of numerous universes!!!! How about that for a kick in the pants????

@powder Me too--I hadn't heard of this idea.

sure. we don't know whether there was a singularity or whether there was something before the big bang, or both, but we know something banged and we know it was big and we know the current universe came into being as a result. i don't really understand why it's a matter of belief, though. there is evidence.
