Seems to me that firing tear gas over the wall into Mexico is an act of war! What do you think?
It's up to the Mexican government what is and is not an act of war, not us.
Thinking from the their point of view, if I was the 36th, strongest military in the world would I want to declare war on the 1st strongest military that is over 5x larger and with 40x the aircraft as a landlocked country that has 5000+ tanks to my...zero.
No I don't think it's an act of war. It's a pretty shitty thing for the US to do, but I'll suck up some riot ordinance being deployed on people trying to flee my country into theirs.
Yeah it technically is, although I don't know how advisable it would be for Mexico to pick that particular battle. Mortars and artillery might be another matter, but even then, I think Trump would love to invade Mexico in the name of "protecting" US citizens.
Under this Fake President, I am ashamed to be a citizen of the USA.
No act of war, but aggression if the shells fall on the other side of the border, remember that the wall itself is not at the exact border, but some meters inside US territory, enough to allow material to be transported and patrols, so it is possible that everything happened inside US.
Anyway yes Mexico could claim aggression, and US would veto even the discussion at ONU, so why bother?
Remembering that migration is not a crime, is not illegal (actually is a human right), is maximum irregular as it don't follow the regulations of the country.
@Veteran229 The crime is avoiding the process of regularization, not the act of migration.
No, it was not an act of aggression against Mexico. It was an attempt to prevent a mass of aliens from crossing illegally into the US.
I read that Australia has rather strict immigration rules, and that undocumented aliens are shipped into exile onto an island somewhere. Can you verify if that is correct?
Maybe Prison ships?[agnostic.com]
Yes, lots of controversy about that one. Not Australia’s finest hour, and it’s not just the right wing government. There is a cap of 33,000 legal migrants I believe per year but don’t quote me on that.
There are a lot of similarities to the way Poland started WWII.
Wait a second: POLAND started WWII ?!?! How? By visciously attacking those peaceful, fun-loving Nazis?
Please tell me that was meant as sarcasm.
OK. Here's the parallel. The Nazi's had plans to invade Poland, they invaded Poland, and they then blamed Poland. The lefties who have sponsored the migrant caravan had plans to have the migrant caravan illegally invade the United States. They attempted to illegally invade the United States, and now the lefties are blaming the United States. Does that make sense now?
@Mortal Do you believe several thousand dirt poor Central Americans spontaneously got the idea to travel a couple thousand miles to illegally invade the United States as a group? Do you believe they had the resources to travel together all those thousands of miles? It's never happened before. If they really wanted to enter the United States illegally, they would follow the same methods that 10 to 20 million people have used in the past to illegally enter the United States.
@creative51 You don't want a debate involving facts, so you resort to name calling.
@Gooniesnvrdie “The President of Honduras told me this was organized by leftist groups in Honduras and financed by Venezuela,” Pence declared. A senior administration official confirmed to The Daily Caller a call took place between Hernandez and Pence regarding the migration situation.
@Gooniesnvrdie Vice President Mike Pence said Tuesday during an appearance hosted by The Washington Post that “the president of Honduras told me this was organized by leftist groups in Honduras and financed by Venezuela.” But no specific evidence other the Honduran official’s claim was offered.
A caravan in April was funded by Pueblo Sin Fronteras (People Without Borders), which is a project of La Familia Latina Unida, a Chicago, Illinois-based 501(4) illegal immigration advocacy group.
These groups have been organizing and aiding migrants in seeking asylum in the U.S. since at least 2010, but there is no clear organizer and little information regarding how the latest caravan was organized, who did it, or who is funding and supplying it.
@creative51 First name calling, now profanity. So you are in agreement with me that the caravan has been sponsored by a few leftist groups and possibly leftist governments, but not every single left wing group in the universe? Do you believe that a 19th century leftist poet's quote “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore,” should be the basis for all future foreign policy and immigration policy? Europe has embraced that policy, and it has been a disaster: [cnbc.com]
What other quotes from 19th century poets should we use to determine our 21st century national policies?
@creative51 France began work on the Statue of Liberty in the early 1870's. Emma Lazarus wrote the poem you believe should guide all US policy in 1883.
@creative51 LEGAL immigrants have been a part of our history and need to continue. I'm not anti-immigrant at all. My late wife's entire family on both sides was from Taiwan. On her father's side, they had 3 brothers. Two earned M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering, and one earned a PhD in Physics. On her mother's side, they had 5 children. One PhD in biochemistry. One M.S. in Computer Science. One PhD in Electrical Engineering. One daughter married a PhD in Electrical Engineering. All of them came to the USA LEGALLY. All had a lot to contribute to this country. I'm all in favor of that.
