I live on a long island and the first thing people ask is are you in the North or South? I am in the North but some of my best friends are from the south!!! It's a joke but also true.

My new neighbors don’t like it when I call it ‘the mid-Atlantic.’ They think it’s ‘the South.’ Guess it once was, even had it’s capital…
I’ve been wondering about venturing down your way ...through a long time trusted friend always warns me off.. But I’m wondering if lowland poverty’s that much different than mountain poverty?

I'm from the South, born in Alabama, and now reside in Texas. I agree with ya, one does need to be brave to live among some of the most backward people in this Country...LOL

I'm from Montgomery Alabama. I've never understood or accepted geographical prejudice. Every location has it's fair share of loonies. I've been an agnostic since I was 12, that's when I saw through and abandoned the baptist church. I'm 61 now and have lived in the south all my life. My rejection of organized religion has never been a problem.

@VictoriaNotes If the total implausiblity of organized religion doesn't get you the hypocrisy will, and it's that way everywhere not just Alabama and it's damned unfortunate.
I'm in Tulsa, OK. Feels much like being behind enemy lines, seriously.
