Texas Federal Judge says Obamacare is unconstitutional. Will be appealed. None the less, we need medicare for all. just happened tonight, go to any major news site and read all about it.
I am still a big supporter of a public health care system. It’s the right thing.
No link...please provide TY
And how can a district federal judge rule on what the Supreme Court already said WAS constitutional? I'm a little confused here...
@creative51 BBS and AlJazeera didn't have it; found it on Reuters finally.
"U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth agreed with a coalition of 20 states that a change in tax law last year eliminating a penalty for not having health insurance invalidated the entire Obamacare law.
On Friday, O’Connor ruled that after Trump signed a $1.5 trillion tax bill passed by Congress last year that eliminated the penalties, the individual mandate could no longer be considered constitutional."
So it appears a change in the tax law put it in a new light.
On a side note, why post shit if you are not going to put a link, or even take the time to talk about it, or just tell people to go look it up? Looks like a point whoring post...
Yeah conservatives are still trying to dismantle this but taking health insurance away from people might actually get them to complain. 3 states voted in Medicaid expansion under the ACA this November because their republican congress wouldn’t pass it.
@creative51 yep. But now that people have health insurance they don’t want to give it up. Even the ones who swuaked the loudest about “Obamacare.”
Obamacare is not unconstitutional. I think the Republicans are against Obamacare because they didn't think of it first.
Well, they did! Wikipedia: "In April 1970, Senator Jacob Javits (R-NY) introduced a bill to extend Medicare to all—retaining existing Medicare cost sharing and coverage limits" Also, even Nixon supported a limited form of national health insurance. [en.wikipedia.org]
We've really been moving in the wrong direction!
They’re against it because it was done by Obama.
@A2Jennifer exactly. The Republicants didn't think of it first.
@RobertMartin I really don’t think they wanted it to be done at all. Not to put too fine a point in it, but I think they’re angry because a democrat and BLACK man no less, accomplished this huge of legislation and even worse, one that is based on the assumption that all people deserve to have their basic needs met.
