That's a brew I resort to when writing books AND code. ?

It is true for many of us. Gosh.

My best writing is likely when I'm inspired and passionate about the subject. However with my "work" writing, I sometimes get burned out with what feels like tedious "same old, same old" that needs to be freshened up a bit, so I have to play a scary game with myself to boost my motivation.

I will put off the writing of a script until the last hour, and have it fly out of my brain and through my fingertips trying to beat the real and consequential deadline.

By letting my thoughts percolate until the last moment, refusing to call it procrastination, haha, it gives me the needed adrenaline to narrow down the words I write, keeping to point, rather than rambling on.

Beautiful technique. I think I would melt into a puddle of self-loathing, questionable nootropics, and incorrect APA formatting if I tried it, though.

I prefer mine with a dash of imposter syndrome, thanks.

That's the absolute best, the self doubt sprinkle on top.

Given an inspiring topic, I will write until someone stops me. May I have tea instead please?

Absolutely! And I envy you.

@DoctoralZombie
No need. It can be a curse...

Yes! Yes! Yes!

And we find another!

Sounds like midterm papers and finals for me too.

Are you taking them or scoring them?

@DoctoralZombie Taking again. Career change.

@Mokvon Power on!

For a period of ten years I worked with academic scientists and have to say that the above description certainly applied to some of them but not all of them. Some, more than others, seemed to be preoccupied with the ' publish or perish syndrome.'

Aptitude at one's job varies from person to person it seems

This is how I conduct my entire life!

Right on!

1

This applies to me writing software too ?

Ah, kindred spirits all over

@DoctoralZombie Although, I must admit, I'm a tea drinker. No coffee for me!

I take mine extra bitter with the bile that rises every time we're told to "share out" and "dialogue" during our professional development meetings

Oh nooo! That is hilarious. I mean, I am sorry for your dispair.

I can relate.

I thought at least one person might understand.

1

I'll take mine black skip the tears.?

Agreed, much better. However mine is often served this way, it seems.
