I usually only swear for shock value,to garner attention. However,if angered,I have been known to swear profusely.
Yes, it does seem anger can increase the swear words emitted.
I have yet to understand why some people go out of their way to be rude and ugly , especially when there's no reason for it . It's as if they think it makes they sound like an adult ? Or maybe it gives their words power ? Or most likely , a string of ugly covers up the fact that they are truly idiots . That's it , the last one . When they have nothing of value to say , but won't want to be left out of the conversation , they spew forth a string of meaningless ugly .
So by ugly you mean... cuss words?
I try to refrain;sometimes idiots bring it out of me
This issue has made the gamut here several times and, early on, I even posted a question. It gets a lot of comments.
To me certain words are denigrating to the speaker. They take on a life of their own and spread like a virus. I try to be cognizant of what I say and make an effort to avoid such words. There are plenty of other expletive words and one can even use &%*#!& or words from other countries like Bloody hell. As I said before using words with sexual connotations out of place (there is a proper, fun place) even denigrates the titillating effect of those words.
Then you are a good candidate for the site filter.
@CaroleKay I chose not to use that. Gives me a good idea of who I am dealing with. I also use the F factor when watching movies. Too many (especially at the start) the movie goes off.
I noticed when I was in the military everyone did a lot of cursing and I started to fall into that trap. I then realized I am falling to a trap set by others and made a conscious effort not to. Funny but my Catholic upbringing and having to practice self control made me realize this is a muscle like going to the gym and to stay strong I have to always challenge myself. This is one way I do that. Thanks for the comment.
I prefer to follow Congresswoman Tlaib'S lead when referencing the Motherfucker in Chief.
The first time I wrote, "ohferpetessake" on here (a pleasant change from my usual foul-mouth) some guy wrote back accusing me of "using Gawd's name on am Atheist site"!!!!!!
Gawd's name is "Pete"?!??!!
WTF?
???
Technically, God’s name is Peter. Pete is just a nickname.
@Rob1948 Thank Gawd you are here to straighten that out!!!
I say, "Fut the shuck up!" No cuss word there!
I'm sure that there's been many times throughout human history that a rage fuleled torrent of profanity has spent the anger of people that might otherwise have taken to beating someone to death with a baseball bat.
Profanity is just one of God's many gifts to His most sinful creation.
Holy noodle knockers!! That's bad language !! Shame shame ...
I'm embarrassed to say that there are waaaaay too many of these that I have actually used. ?
@BeeHappy occasionally I use phooey lol
@Cutiebeauty Heavens to Betsy! That's not so bad. ?
@BeeHappy when I'm really mad... I yell and scream so loud, glass shatters !! No need for cussing lol
@Cutiebeauty Ok... be sure to give me a heads up if you feel that coming on, I'm gonna head for the hills! ?
@BeeHappy lol it doesn't happen often.
I'm drawn to "drat" and "christ on a crutch". I had a t-shirt that said "fuck you you motherfucking fuck". Love that word!
It's a favorite of mine as well. ?
Christ on a crutch is a fav
I picked up drat from W. C. Fields. I love the "Bank Dick", you dick.
Mother Francis don't tell me how to speak! ??
Dag nabbit, I won't! ???
@BeeHappy I would not use cotton pickin', though. That one is offensive.
I have absolutely no fucking problems with a good, fucking swear. Good for the soul, fuck yeah! ?
Gee willikers beloved of nice young ladies in English private boarding schools.
