It was nice of them to tell me I don't have the "breast cancer gene" BRCA1. That alone was worth the $99.

Some of you already know how I feel about it. With adoption and unknown siblings out there, it was great for me as I have found an abundance of close relatives.

I tested with 23 and Ancestry. Both assign roughly the same amounts of origins to me

I don't any of the dangerous variants they test for, so I'm unconcerned about the insurance issue and I'm older to boot.

If my relatives commit a crime and get caught because my dna is on file, fuck 'em

I thought I would get a discount because I only have 22 chromosomes, but they wanted to charge the full amount. No thanks. I’m no idiot.

Canadian journalists and identical twins, Charlsie and Carly Agro sent their DNA to some different DNA commercial companies. Look at the "mystifying" results at: [cbc.ca]

They can be selectively biased according to my geneticist.

You get cancer just once.... ?

However why not? My sister enjoys believing we're from Great Britain even though we are pure French for 4 hundred years of family tree. I still love her.

As long as you are aware the data can be sold; that there are no solid laws protecting you from insurance companies; and the police can search it for familiar matches.

I’m curious if there is a way to engage with these companies anonymously.

Sell my data. I will be dead soon & I leave no spawn behind. I did for disease propensity. Ancestry was known except the Hungarian part which has Asian influx.

Have not done it. Probably won't since they can sell your data.
