Indiana requires citizenship test before being allowed to graduate high school

[msn.com]

On the one hand, any effort to reinforce knowledge about our system and history is to be encouraged.

On the other hand, don't they have Civics courses anymore?

Any idea what this citizen test entails? I can’t really have an opinion on this matter without that.

@Elganned “standard test they give to immigrant” That is what I was looking for.

That seems fine to me.

what good is a citizenship test if it is NOT preceded by a civics class? that would be like testing someone on algebra but not offering a class in it beforehand.

If Devos gets her way it will even be worse they will be teaching the bible instead of history. And what is even worse she believes the bible is real.

I applaud the requirement to pass a Civics/Government course as part of the required curiculum. But these folks, if natural born.... ARE citizens. And this should not be some kind of "purity" test to graduate. What about children of non-citizens? Crazy shit.... In my opinion.

This is ridiculous, if they want students to know about politics then they should teach them, not expecting it to be just as "something you do know".
