Southern Arizona had the Sonoran desert. I'm biased but I think it's the most beautiful place I've ever seen. The Chiricahuas are wonderful. Go up mt. Lemmon and watch the landscape change from saguaro Forest to Alpine Forest. The Verde valley is great. Beautiful red Rock, old ghost towns, winding canyons.

The lands of the Havasupai. Gorgeous canyon on an undisturbed Native reservation. It is an eight hour hike in though.
There are burros and helicopters

There is a water spigot.

You'll need a reservation. Hard to get

@Count_Viceroy Reservations were sold out this week for this year already.

@Count_Viceroy I think there are very many cancellations. I don't think it was half full. I think people book without really knowing how hard it is to get there.

There's a place called "the Wave" that you should go see if you can get into it (the government limits the number of people who can go per day.) Phoenix in the winter (January, February) is lovely, not so much anytime after March. Any part of the Grand Canyon is awesome to look at. Browsing at the trading posts is fun. There's also beautiful forests in some areas. The Payson area is pretty stunning. It's a big state and there's a lot you can do there.

I've been here since 1975, endless supply of fantastic vistas and towns to explore. You can ski in the morning in Flagstaff and swim in Phoenix in the afternoon.

You'll enjoy :
Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde;Meteor Crater (Winslow); Petrified Forest; Jerome(ghost town),Prescott; and for grins: Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, and more !! Enjoy !

There is an actual statue of Don Henley in a corner of Winslow, AZ.

Other interesting Route 66 old style relics are still there too.

Motel rooms shaped like big concrete tepees.

Stop thinking and just do it. Make it up as you go along if necessary.
