I had to put my dog down today and I know there's no afterlife, but just this once I'm going to say that there is a heaven for good dogs.

Always sad when that happens. I still feel guilty about my cat after a whole year. I feel that I was a bad owner, and I am punishing myself by not getting another one.

I'm so very sorry. It can be such an agonizing decision if the symptoms or indicators aren't clear. I went through it last summer and still shed an occasional tear. I'm not sure that anyone or anything else in the universe loves us as much or as unconditionally as our dogs. It will get better. For now try to remember all the good things.

I've had to put many of my animals down. I always tell people when you have to
put a pet down, it opens your heart to another one that needs a good loving home.
So, hopefully something good came out of your pet's death.....
