One of the things I miss most about being in a relationship is having someone to cook for. I love to bake and cook. Sitting alone on this Saturday evening while my house stinks of Italian. Beef and Italian sausage bought from a farmer I know personally. Fresh grated mozzarella, provolone and authentic Parmesan Reggiano cheeses (personal favorite cheese mix). Meat marinara sauce has been simmering for a few hours now and the shells are almost ready to be stuffed! Only thing missing is a nice heathen lady that I would be more than happy to fatten up.

You had me at Parmesan Reggiano. I also love to cook.Great pots of steaming sauces, crocks of baked beans, Boston Butt roasts simmering for hours in chilies and tomatillos. However I've never adjusted to cooking just enough for myself. Therefore I end up eating the same thing every day for a week, or freezing leftovers. I've been fattening myself up.

Yes totally understand!!!

I just signed up for a weekly meal plan delivery so I can learn how to cook better... can’t order for just one person though, so I’ll be cooking for two all alone! ?

Should I stop by around 6???

I feel you. I sometimes miss that aspect of being in a relationship, as well.
Nowadays, I save most of my "big" cooking for holidays and family gatherings.

Stinking up the house with Italian cooking???

Please marry me and let me bear your children.

It's one of the things i miss most too. 😟

I feel the same way.

I feel the same way. My daughter and I live together. She moved in her boyfriend. Then he moved in his children. Picky little bitches. I love to cook from scratch. They love ramen noodles. I will make a feast fit for royalty and they throw it in the garbage. I need to move. Or they need to. I just want someone who likes fine cuisine and eats Brussels sprouts.

It may be hard to instill better habits, in the new found family, I guess you need to find friend or boyfriend who will love for you to come over and cook real meals! I am not like you described, but I placed high value on people that I knew that placed eating and cooking as a pleasure instead of a chore! Lol

@Freedompath Great Advise. I really would love to have a boyfriend to cook for. I've been on the look out 🙂

@confidentrealm best of luck with that!

@Freedompath Oh well. I'm still making Sunday dinner for my mom. Tonight's menu: Snapper with dill sauce, roasted red potatoes and asparagus, three bean salad and Apple Betty. And if the kids throw it in the trash, fuck them. This dinner is costing me over $50. It just pisses me off to see good food go to waste.

@confidentrealm I eat leftovers with delight! Let them take out tiny servings, don’t waste that wonderful food that I would so enjoy...since I do not like to cook! And, don’t loose heart!

"Only thing missing is a nice heathen lady that I would be more than happy to fatten up." I am not a heathen lady, but really enjoy good food...how about I come over dressed in drag? 😉

@dahermit

You couldn't fatten me up if you tried! Portion control, baby. I use small plates and don't eat much at one time.

5

Hard to believe you don't have them beating down your door.... 😉 😉

6

What an excellent post! I love you already! My place or yours????

4

The fatten up part is way too funny!
I can't believe you don't have a friend that has a friend to introduce to you. Make dinner parties! Someone will be brought along ... ??

Ok...get the kettle on. I'll be right over. I will need a pudding too 😉

The only reason I'm still trim at my age is because I can't cook and I don't want to eat a lot of fast food so I just don't eat much at all. If I could make the delicious food you're talking about I'd be the size of a moose. Probably better this way.

However, if I were a heathen lady, I'd probably be knocking on your door by tomorrow night. Hell, I'm tempted to throw on a dress and come anyway.

"The only thing"? Hey...what about the red wine!

One of my love languages is feeding others.

When I visit my daughter, I bring homemade food: fresh whole wheat bread, lemon bars for my lemon lover Claire, cherry tomatoes, fresh fruit, etc.

Last time I visited, I wowed Claire and her husband Matt by broiling halved cherry tomatoes topped with grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, a little salt and pepper. They were dazzled.

I'll have to try that. I love all tomatoes!

ain't it the truth? before i met richard i had no one for whom to cook. i've been cooking for him for the better part of 18 years now. so before that i didn't miss cooking for someone, but if i lost richard, i would really miss that (and him).

Are you kidding...maybe you need a ‘heathen lady,’ but it looks like any woman would love your meal! Heck, I checked to see how close you were because I could smell the aroma as I read your post! Lol. I too...am sitting here all alone, recovering from our little cold snow storm yesterday and dental work! After, I had a bowl of cereal for dinner! Lol It was just too cold to head out to the Chinese tonight! Best of luck to you!

There are plenty of people out there who will appreciate your baking and cooking.

Give cookies and cheesecake to the neighbors. Find a young couple who both work and tell them to come over for dinner a couple of times a month. Call ahead and take a dinner spread over to the local fire department. Make lunch for the local librarians once a month.

That works in one sense of needs...but it want fill that empty spot for an opposite sex, experience that we are seriously yearning for...this time!

@MissKathleen sometimes...it is hard to admit to!
